Before that, service 88 was introduced, the only SBS service when Sengkang was still under TIBS. The fleet upgraded very fast, from non air con Scania N113CRBs to air con Volvo Olympians, B10Ms, Leyland Olympians after a short span of about 6 months.Service 864 had Volvo Olympians and B10Ms for its short span of service before it merged with service 84 to become service 80.
In the 1980s, when Sengkang was not developed, there are only two bus services to Punggol end.
Service 82, Punggol Road End - Shenton Way, mainly used Volvo B57s and after that, Volvo B10Ms MKIIs.
Service 83, Punggol Road End - New Bridge Rd, used Mercedes OF1413s (DM bodied) and after that, Volvo B10Ms MKIIs.
Was 88 under BNDEP or BRBP?? I remembered seeing 82 using MK2 DM CAC, MK3 and VOs

I don't recall seeing perm CACs on 865. Full fleet OAC Mercs. I've seen CACs as cameos, but I never seen it using Scanias and Lances as cameos. Maybe it did. I've got no impression at all. 864 had perm CACs.

Dennis Lances didnt appear on 864 and 865. back then they were using the blue destos.. but for 866, it did appear becuase of the EDS, like 907s, 908p.
866 had the blue destos before the Dennis Lances were fitted with EDS.
Did you have any idea where service 80 (old) plied?
Was it renumbered as 72 after the old svc 80 route was amended?
So, when was Sengkang Bus Terminal opened?

Slightly off-topic: In the past, SBS & TIBS had:
Blue back destos = Aircon buses
Red back destos = NAC buses
Now,
SBS & TIBS (before remaned as SMRT)
Green destos = All aircon buses that time all NAC buses (7** series) had converted to CAC
Red destos = All AC and NAC buses

Service 80 from Tampines to Hougang Central via old Tampines Road, whereas old service 72 was a peak hour service from YCK to loop at Seagate along AMK Ave 5.
In Apr 1998 service 72 was extended to Tampines from AMK Ave 5 via Hougang Ave 9 and 4 after which followed 80's route to Tampines. Service 80 was withdrawn on the same day.

Somewhere in June 1998 when Tibs introduced service 860. It was just a roadside parking.
Erm
May I ask SBS3710R SBS3713H n SBS3714E
was it Perm Svc 292 all the way (Except SBS3710R which go Perm 58)?
Originally posted by off_service:866 had the blue destos before the Dennis Lances were fitted with EDS.
To add on, service 866 was renumbered from the old service 59 which was extended to Sengkang from Jln Kayu via TPE and Rivervale Drive.
SBS tok over service 866 from Tibs after which it got renumbered again to 86

No Lance on 864 865. I don't think theese 2 services had the destos. There were only limited services using Lance.
910G was one of the first few having EDS. The only Lance with EDS on 103 and uses the green rear desto. That was unique as the green rear desto only appeared on this bus. Haha.
Do you have any idea where half of 81 permers were redeployed after the route was shortened?
about service 72 fleet (YCK-tam) correct me if i am wrong
1996: It has perm Lo3x and Vo3x, maybe some 0405??
2000-2006 - have the most perm Lo3x & some merz 0405 and even DM3500 (SBS2826Y and that Bosher (drilling ad) DM3500 forgot rego but was perm 18 when in BNDEP)
2007 - presents - have perm most b9TL, 2 Vo3x (SBS9617M & SBS9620C) and SBS3870L and SBS327J
SBS9002L i think was perm on 72 from 2000 till 2009 iirc?

Don't forget the VSO perm before they were replaced by B9TLs.
Yes, 9030, 9133, 9135, 9138 etc used to 72 perms. They were also replaced by B9TLs too. Svc 13 was benefitted from getting LO3x perms after SP for awhile.
SBS9002L was the solo LO3x perm before it was being replaced by one of buses.
So, SBS9002L AMDEP 72> AMDEP SP> SLBP 79 (now)

The MK4s like 886L 2828S 2829P 2830J 2831G 2832D became spare before they entered 39.
9414G 9415D 9416B 9417Z 9453T 9454R 9523A 9524Y 9525U 9526S 9527P 9528L 9530D 9531B 9532Z 9573E 9574C 9578S 9579P. Never seen 9529J on 81 before.
9414G 9578S went to 10 in 2004 when LOs returnd to amdep and 81 receied 9801Y 9843B.
9415D 9416B 9417Z 9531B 9579P were added into 65 after the rationalisation . By the time 65 became full DD fleet service.
9523A went to 23, 9524Y went to 30, 9526S went to 8. The rest were still perm on 81.
9527P 9530D went amdep and perm 70. 9525U went hgdep for 82.
what happened to 85's fleet after it was withdrawn?

39 was introduced as a bndep service.
1969 svc 80
Former Changi Bus Service - start off from base terminal of Changi bus at
jucntion of Upp Changi rd and tampines rd. terminal position , based on accounts, located on the sloped portion of tampines rd bef meeting the junction.. Buses crank to a stop with handbrakes pulled. crerk
This Changi Bus Service runs
Upp Changi rd ter (Changi Bus) <> Town (Finalyson green or Shenont way)
in 1969 renumbered into current nos system as svc 80.
A duplicate Changi Bus svc running from the Upp Changi rd ter <> Chinatown was renumber as a svc 81.
later absolved into the ABC bus co.(1969)
later into SBS. (1971)
Svc 80 was withdrawn by early 80s? or late 80s. 81 stayed
Later in the 1990s, a funny svc 80 ermeged running tampines to Hougang.
that service disappeared after a few years only. Only to become part of a svc 72.
the svc 80 we know today came from the 84 and 864 merger in the Sengkang new Town beginning days

If u are enquiring on old bus routes.
maybe you cna find out if the bus routes fall into the following time frames
(gernation 0)
pre 1960s - Chiense Bus Comapny days. did the bus routes existed under this companies.
(gernation 1 - orginal generation / old generation- many names i call these orginal gen svcs)
1969 - the merger of many chiense bus companies
to form ABS ASC or UBC
1971-1973 - slow transition days to SBS
Any bus route intro after 1972 is considered 2nd gen
1978 - finalisation of the route under SBS
1980s the cross island introductions (stuff like 74 or 25
1990s
background on roads,
in the 1960s
Roads were few beyond the city area, Serangoon rd ran to NE. any bus svc gg NE used this road. Simialir dieas for
West Coast rd Bukit timah rd (green bus territory), Changi rd (paya lebar Bus terriroty), Alexnadra rd (Hock lee), sembawang rd (tay Koh yat),
macpherson est existed, queesntown have not.
1968 (the svc numbering introduction )
Queenstown around leow. jurong begins to form. Upp jurong Rd became a main road.
1970 9TPY town was begin to develop)
1980 9AMK town begins..., clemnti new town...)
and etc
with a basic knowldge of the road systems u cna further understand how few bus routes were and why there are now so few orginal gen routes.
based on my research, the only roginal gen route with no route changes 9except extensions) is..
Svc 61

Why is 61 the original gen route with no changes?

This service 80 (Tampines - Hougang Central) was introduced due to the modification of the TPE / Elias Rd / Tampines Rd junction in 1996, with the opening of the stretch of TPE between Lor Halus and SLE. Vehicles can no longer proceed straight from Elias Rd to Tampines Rd and vice-versa, therefore service 81 was amended to ply Pasir Ris Dr 12 instead to get to TPE, skipping the eastern part of Tampines Rd. Service 80 was introduced to replace the deleted sector of service 81 along Tampines Rd and also to provide passengers in Hougang a faster link to Tampines town without going thru Pasir Ris.
