2. The SBS Nissan is of the model U31SCN (not to be confused with SMRT's U31RCN).
1.No wonder.I thought when u said that SBS didnt buy any Leyland Victories,i was very confused alr cuz i had seen many pics of them in the internet and for a moment i thought i had been seeing the wrong bus all the while.Haha.Luckily Volvo Olympian and 9818A confirmed that those buses were Leyland Vctories.
2.Yeah i know that.

Yeah.Seriously the history books really have very little pictures of the old buses. My school library got one lta book. But inside very little old bus pics.Mostly all show new bus like the Mercs and the Volvo MK3/MK4/VO3X.U all should have really seen that movie. The moment i saw so many old SBS buses throughout the movie,it was as if those buses had really came back to life again now.Haha.A real nostalgic movie.![]()
But the most amazing thing was, there wasnt a single TIBS bus that appeared in the movie. But in one part,a TIBS lorry appeared in the movie.Haha.

lol.But the CSS and SBS Nissans had quite a lot of visible differences at the exterior.
PIS (Passenger information System)
A screen inside the bus that displays information to passenegrs. most commonly next bus stop location. Displays may also tell passengers of jams or diversions.
Screen can be LED or LCD
A very advanced PIS will be the
GDS (Graphic Display System)
As its name suggest the GDS will show graphics, including maps or conenctivity info or the bus stops info on a schematic diagram like train line.
The GDS also can show what time the each bus service or even Metro or train arrives at next bus stop
anything that does not look like a LED screen or LCD screen is a GDS.
and for display systems otuside the bus..
GDS only applies for bus. For train line maps on screens they are still called PIS.
EDS (Electronic Destination System)
the EDS acts exactly like a bus destination infromations creen. in Singapore it shows service number, via places and destination.
In taiwan it shows from location to location with service number
In Hong Kong it displays the to destination and svc no. a few hong Kong buses have LCD EDS.
In European countires EDS are simplier with just destination and service number.
EDS come mostly in LED. either single colour format or many colours.
In hong Kong it is mandatory for EDS to be in yellow words n black background.
In Singapore it is usually ornage words in black background.
i have yet to see any operator use a reverse format of black words, bright background although this is possible to set in most EDS.
common EDS systems are Hanova and MobiTec.
EDS are not only for bus. they cna be found for trains as well and LRTs. in taiwan trains have EDS showing which direction train goes to.
future?
With the advent of Organic LCD technology, soon EDS or PIS may convert to OLCD or OLED technologies.
Wheelchair ramps / lifts
Wheelchair ramps are fitted on todays modern buses.
there are many kinds of ramps
Flip out ramp
Flip out ramps when not in operation lay flat on the bus floor. Desgined to be a flap lying on a base support, the flap part flips out and extends the ramp system into a 2 ramp part. One still on the bus and the flap out to the kerbside.
the Mannual Flip out ramp is the most common in Singapore.
the auto flip out ramp is the most common in hong Kong.
Slide out ramp
the slide out ramp is normally enclosed underneath the bus base. when needed to be used the ramp slides out and then hinges down to the kerb.
One step ramp
Ramps fitted on one stepped height buses. Ramps can be a pull out ramp from the step to the kerb level , a very long ramp.
or a two section ramp with a sharp incline. one ramp to cover the step to the lower step and then another ramp snaps into place to form the final part that extends from lower step to kerb.
one step ramps can be found in many Japan buses.
Wheelchair lift
the most primitive type of ramp is the lift. here the PIW rolls into a box like thing nad it lifts the PIW ontot hte bus deck level. normally used on coaches with high flooring for luggage .Eg mercedes travego. or even the disbaled freindly vans.
There are two main types of Wheelcahir ramps
Auto (motor) ramp
quite obviuso how these work..hahah
or mannual ramp
In Mannual ramps are hand operated either using levers to pull ramps (mannual flip out) or grip holds to pull ramps (slide out pull ramp) .

U31 SCN and RCN are same model of K-U31 N (wheelbase 5.5 meters) under the Nissan Diesel U/UA series. SCN and RCN are not proven to be different in any way and hence they can be named under the same model. However, U31 RCL would come under the K-U31 L which features a shorter wheelbase of 5.1 meters. The U31 model was produced until 1993 as an export model for Singapore; production discontinued 1984 for Japan market and succeeded by P-U/UA32.
K- is the suffix for Showa 54 (1980 AD) Emission Regulation.

Kim Chuan Depot has put the "SMRT TRAINS LTD", which means it is a train depot.

Really?! It looks as though SMB30Z caught up with TIB755M. Thats why the 2 teams are waiting for taxi together.
Svcs which put additional desto plates in front (like 124, 155) will get e new design.
To be released this Mon.
Certain sv60 buses have alr started testing e new additional desto plate
I saw some WLDEP O405s like TIB81XX I took 2days before had did away with the standee area and fitted 4 seats facing each other. The 2 seats facing the back are foldable seats. I wonder is there other buses with the standee area done away with.

That bus is TIB612S (901/587 WLDEP). Only this bus got such configuration. But weirdly everyone who boards the bus doesn't know what those 2 things are and that area is still being treated as a standee area. But actually to think of it, its good that it runs Premium svcs because there are more seats ![]()

I did sat on that bus while it was on 187.Your reply reminded me the scene on the bus.Two people boared the bus, they wanted to find seats but there were no vacant seats, then they saw the foldable seats, they tried to pull it down but sadly it stuck halfway ![]()

Kim Chuan Depot is large, that is for sure, but the extra space you see right now are earmarked for DTL3 and seperated from SMRT Controlled area within the depot.
On the other hand, there is nothing to stop SMRT Corporation from building a bus depot above the existing train depot as the train depot was designed and built to accomodate future developments on top of the depot, between Bartley Viaduct (Bartley Road East) and the current Kim Chuan Road.
TIB940U (AM 985) back on Service 985 with modified front, similar to TIB907S and TIB910G.
