Try to wait 160 during weekends at Woodlands Checkpoint (Towards Jurong East) You can wait for more than 30 minutes for next bus to come.
Originally posted by 105090:in the morning peak, many 170B will operate from Kranji >> Larkin... if you want to go Kota Raya, need to wait very long for 160 or the original 170B. the 170B will make a return trip to Kranji
evening peak, only 170R goes to Larkin (iirc). most 170B will U-turn back to Kranji after clearing JB Customs. to go to Kota Raya, again, wait for 160 or a long wait for 170B
bus clears faster because bus lanes are dedicated, and theres less checks...
170 is probably the most flexible service in SBS!
It can be flexible because there's no QoS!

Not sure i always saw is 2 240 arrive at bl int together. Then 1st one depart the second one follow closely behind. Like i say if SBS continue to like deploy 2 bus to depart at the same time, there will sooner be a shortage and delay of bus.

Once, when I was waiting for Service 240 after school, SBS8931L came and it was super-crowded, and within seconds, SBS8932J came with the bus empty. However, I flagged the bus too late and ended up taking Service 246 home.
Because i know for some reason that the road before lakeside mrt during peak hour was like... cause there are only 2 lane and lot of vehicles use that road. But if it was peak period i cannot say anything. The frequence for non-peak period is also worse. Cause if 1 bus is delay the other behind catch up and both will arrive at int at the same time. Then both will also depart at the same time. Like that no wonder frequence will be screw up. Then the problem will be the same again.

170 falls well within QoS standards.

SBS875T was one of the buses used...
170 is very flexible.
But I do hope the City leg or rather S'pore leg freq could be less erratic.

from wad i recall, they allow 1 sv170 red line to dep every 10-15mins at Larkin.
if there is a jam at e checkpoint, freq will vary greatly.

246 takes u on a tour of JUR industrial area before dropping you off. I believe u live near BNL gdn side rite? That area also has 174 and 198 that takes direct route from interchange.

Actually all 3 left mirrors are different. If you look closely,
TIB959S with a modern design mirror,
TIB967T with squarish mirror, and
TIB968R with medium size mirror of the 2 Volgrens, plus its zig-zag for the pole.
Below are 3 pics taken from last week U-Weekly magazine and ytd's Straits Time.
