I've only been there once....it was intentional. But I had to hitch-hike to get there, because the walk was waaaaay longer than I had expected.

It is really long... Don't attempt it again
I was there wif two other forumers to primarily plane-spot, and the other two were just taking photos.
Actually I also wanted to try out this new camera, that is why...

Long? Long was an understatement....I was trying to escape from the naval base to take 35 leh....as it turned out, I was already half-dead by the time I got to the main gate, and that's still within the base. -

Translate a car ride of 5min in = walking for 40min! No shuttle bus at that time? -

I can't remember exactly why, but there was no shuttle....there was no one to tompang me, and best of all....I started walking from....teh furtherst end! Nightmare man....I walked to as far as the reclaimation plant before I was forced to put the inverted thumb out due to sheer desperation and a kind lorry driver picked me up and dropped me at tanah merah ferry terminal.
Ah...I remember why already. I had missed the 10AM (?) shuttle and decided to keh kiang and attempt to walk out.
I should have just sat at the spec mess on hindsight and waited for the next one. Anyway the shuttle doesn't serve where I had started walking if my memory still serves me.
