How certain are you that SMRTB would scrap the O405s without extending the lifespan? And considering if SMRTB wants to scrap the ELBOs, there would only be 15 slots cleared (ELBOs + UDs). WLDEP has 328 parking lots, minus off the UDs and ELBOs there would be 352 buses. Still overshot by 24.
AMDEP has 175 parking slots and Yishun Int has 77 parking slots for overnight parking. It has 267 buses. Minus the UDs for revenue service there would be 265 buses. Overshot by 13 buses
KJDEP has 199 parking slots and BB Int has 55 parking slots. They have 316 buses. No revenue UDs so overshot by 62 buses.
Add together and you get 99 buses which have difficulty in parking at depots or interchanges overnight. Alternatively they can park overnight at WRI, but it may be good to have a new depot so that they could buy more buses to perhaps improve the frequencies or something ... ...

Sound if you've been working for SMRTB before.Yes i agree that SMRT do not need another depot but AM @ KJ seriously need to be relocated at new multi storey or expand their depot. If they got spaces why not they buy more new buses for their services?Right now even if they add more new buses where the buses are supposed to park?Hence the bad freq that some of you experience. All they need is a piece of land from LTA and the approval from that woman.AMDEP already got plans(The land in front of the depot) to expand but till now no news

I think they might move some away after more Citaro come in.
The O405s are still in good running condition,Why would they wanna to scrap it soon?66 Citaros you think is enough after the UDs and Elbos completely gone?Think about spare buses it need. You think the perm bus wont breakdown or go preventive maintenance?WLDEP need at least 38 spare buses to survive.

If SMRT does not need anymore depots, can you tell me the reason why are there overnight interchange parking & overnight road parking at WLDEP??

KJDEP also got roadside parking.... and i think there are overnight parking at CCK/Bukit Panjang interchange as well? or else where they park the 62 buses?

i did not quote your post over this... i am quoting SBS7322B post. But then you are the one who mention about Kim Chuan depot. Like what i say, SMRT will build their own depot, instead of LTA building for them.
btw, SMRT AMDEP still got 3 years left on the lease... while KJDEP still got 5 years left on the lease...

No overnight parking at CCK and BP Interchange. All buses return to their respective depots.
Any up-to-date information about redeployments for 2010?

a lot of buses does turn out of KJDEP at 7-8pm and travel along sungei kadut towards CCK. not sure where they go. also, now the whole stretch of Kranji road are parked with SMRT buses (bendy/oc/merc) etc at night time. last time only a few buses. now think at least 30-40 buses.

Mainly are those who does overnight parking at Bukit Batok Interchange. They went back to KJDEP for fuel top-up.
Overnight road side parking are more prone to vandalism.KJDEP have to consider CCK for the time being. At least 56 buses can park there with security guards.Last time at Yishun there's a group of nao hia teenagers throw stone at the buses, ditto for Pasir Ris too.Security also bochap one,Fear for their safety.AMDEP should move to a new 2 storey bus park

Yes. I agree with you. =) Seen it many times.
Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang services return to KJDEP for parking after ending their respective shifts.

Maybe SMRT may consider to lease the land in front of AMDEP? It's big enough to build a MSBP there.
Cheers.
To save more space built an underground depot.
maybe they can consider a bus depot at the brickland area i think?
