the RHD should be done at point of manufacture..

Point of Manufacture.
Citaros are built to LHD configuration for Europe market, RHD for English market. RHD Citaros are not uncommon.
Edit: Okay answered by 179R lols...
Thanks
assuming if they did the modifications here, it will cost SMRT lots of time/effort & most importantly $$$..
i just like what SMRT is doing ! all the way SMRT (:
will any normal person fix it up nice nice then go and modify when it can be done nicely right at the first step? LOL.
its like going from boon lay to woodlands, but via tampines XD
We'll be waiting about a month I think, since yes, the bus needs to be modified for SG use. Citaros are fully assembled in Germany, France or Spain (IIRC, only Germany produces the RHD models), that's why you can see the non-standard round WAB and elderly friendly stickers on the bumper.
Also, I think the EDS is a Mobitec unit.

it's ok, they just have to get the specifications of the first unit right before subsequent units are delivered.
Originally posted by Raraken:Saw it just now, but no pics. Right behind the SBST OC500LE. Radiator of both look very similar, so prolly the 12-litre. Get ready for the same engine sound XD Not as bad as having 900 Scania DC Series engines, right?
Of cuz it is better than having 900 boring same looking scanias right.I wldnt even mind if SMRT brought in 400 or 500 Citaros. At least its way better having real quality buses right?

Actually ah i knew that one day, somehow SMRT wld bring in Citaros. But i didnt expect it to happen so soon.Haha.Anyway the faster the more better what.TIBS/SMRT have been known to bring very unique and cool buses into their fleet. So it actually isnt a surprise that SMRT has bought this Citaros. Its only more of a surprise that they have came to singapore faster than expected.Really a dream come true for everyone.Cant wait for the buses to come out in svc.

The EDS is Gorba.

I don't think they can extend the date too early in advance. But they should be doing so because without extending the O405s would mean a sudden loss of buses from its fleet. Its hard to say now because who knows by 2010 maybe SMRTB has bought enough buses to replace the whole fleet of UDs, ELBOs and O405s?
Citaro + OCs + Yutong = around 200 plus buses, not enough to cover O405.

Even though the SMRT Merc 0405s' 17 years lifespan are reaching in 2 years time, I feel that they are good buses compared to those Malaysian UMW Lances and the ELBO Scanias. Still not very sure whether SMRT is extending the lifespan for the 0405s or not, just like SBST's practice.
Originally posted by SBS 8030 L:In my opinion, SMRT even though are getting more and more Mercedes Benz, but at least they tried different models for them and they bought a low amount of them which is a good thing though. At the very least they are unlike SBST, spamming thousands of Scanias K230UB in 1 go which everything are totally the same except the EDS for euro 4 & 5.
SMRT seems to take the initiative "from" busfans dreaming of Citaros in Singapore, and it came true.
Most of their merc are still considered to be in top-notch standard
they prolly will phase them out like e SBST method, which is in phases.

I might check C&C out, since it's near my school. Are we allowed to go in or what? And I brought my camera ^_^
Took 154 yesterday and saw the bus. If you know the Citaro exterior designs well, by looking at the back of the bus, you will know its Mercs Citaro.

Yeah! REAL quality.
good bus
But they still need to meet e 40% WAB quota by 2010 which lags way behind
Hi guys,
What you will notice is that while the Citaro features the same drivetrain as the OC 500 LE (OM 457 hLA engine, ZF Ecomat 2 or Ecolife transmission), there is a lot that is different. The axles are made by ZF instead of in-house at Mercedes-Benz (which the OC 500 shares with the Integro), the braking system is more sophisticated, and the Citaro chassis features independent suspension. It is a higher quality product all round. The ZF driving axle not only sounds nicer, but transmits more power to the wheels. The dash and associated instruments are also completely different. The Citaro and OC 500 are therefore almost entirely different products.
Regards,
Dave

I think SMRT will extend those bus still in good conditions.
Yay!
SMRT gets more and more Mercedes Benz! And it's a Citaro!
I wonder whatz next? Citaro G? To replace bendies? Hahaha..
Saw this bus and the SBST OC while on the bus to SEAB (Pandan Centre) to collect the D&T stuffs.. Look so niceeeee.. Can't wait...
I won't be surprise if this Citaro is handed to WLDEP, cause, OC demo went to KJDEP, Yutong demo went to AMDEP.. So it might be the citaro go to WLDEP..
We shall see..
OT: Why the SBST OC ah still haven't come out?
