Then again the axles fitted on the older buses like the O405 feature a much bigger ratio that helped with a similar rated engine... Albeit at a 8/15 kW difference from the K230 for the Pre-Euro and Euro 1 O405 respectively...
Actually, a taller final drive ratio wouldn't assist an engine with low torque output. For that you would need a short final drive ratio. What the O 405s had on their side was TORQUE - mountains of it, even from idle.

Today, SMB136C is parking @ Yishun Bus Park. Saw the bus on SMB33R, looks clean and shiny. Anyway, Yutong(on 854) was drove by a female BC after SMB33R was heading towards Khatib on 811.
