When JP was first built and operated, it was rated the fast growing suburban malls in Singapore. Due to its prime location, this mall is able to target the residential in the west and factories workers. That is why, the 1st extension come along shortly and now the largest and fast growing suburban mall in Singapore. It successfully snatch over the shopping crowd at IMM and Boon Lay Shopping ctr. Plus, Boon lay way leading to JP was expanded.
it's because by the late 1990s Jurong expanded quickly.
But when it opened in early 1990s, was there anyone? By then Bedok was alrdy fully developed.
JP being biggest is auto, Jurong West is now the biggest new town.
seems like many have forgotten how we started from
I'm probably going for the opening tmr. With jayh

Simply because there isn't any decent malls in the west other than Jurong Point (3 to 4 towns sharing one mall, even Bukit Batok people like Jurong Point). Living in the northern part and the eastern half of Singapore gives you ample amount of choices, with so many malls around. Also the reason why people in the west don't need to choose where to go, cos there is only Jurong Point.
Also can't blame, cos East side, its convenient to go from one place and another cos a lot of buses and roads linking each town centre. And even though Bedok doesn't have a mall yet, the town centre is well developed to cater to everyone.
cool man the new int was like amint saw it yesterday when i walk in from the door took bus guide
(iwill be at int whole day ) say hi there
yup. there's really nothing in the west side. only jurong point.
as an Easterner who spends half his day in the West, there's only JP & IMM that i frequent. IMM i like for its first three hours free parking.
and i like staying in the East. i dont mind travelling the long distance daily. even if i start working in the West upon graduation... i'll still opt to stay in the East.
no more $1 nasi lemak at the temp int. :(

Unless stores are set up for rent like Sengkang/Toa Payoh Int
How to take the new interchange pictures??
SBST Staffs guide people around the new Int, many still don't know Int relocated.
SBST Staffs guide buses reversing from end on berth, SMRT Staffs guide SMRTB Svcs into new Int
LTA staff watching over the two traffic light junctions.
Boon Lay MRT Stn Staff keeps announcing "Boon Lay Int has been relocated, pls proceed to JP for all bus svcs!"
Many workers still don't know Int relocated, walk to Temp Int & call friends all bus svcs MIA
Temp Int
Berth 4 - 179A
Berth 5 - 199, 179
All covered with white stickers except for 179, 179A, 199 berth
Information board put up using poster holder at former berths
New Int
174, 198 have a yellow box for PIW, sign say "Wait for BC to assist"
All information boards have "Services 179, 179A & 199 will continue to operate from the temporary interchange until further notice " sticker on top
Some BCs still use the Temp Int route to new Int
Sv 30 has parking problems alrdy
174 still lucky w/ 174e's slot and by looking at the sawtooth berths, whole int was meant for 35 bus svs ![]()
