honestly the new boon lay interchange has more parking lots than the old one. the current one has 60 while the temp has 58 or so.
only difference is the temp has more space available for parking outside of the allocated lots.
I dont see how the sawtooth side will have enough lots during peak hours unless they draw more lots on the exiting side (where SMRT buses are parked horizontally). the road is wide enough for more parallel parking on the other side.
Originally posted by SBS3688Y:of course the temp BNL int is the best in terms of space, followed by the old permanent BNL int. The new air-con int is just too small. The balance of having adequate space for an Int vs economic considerations (eg opportunity cost over rentable space and land cost, etc) simply went overboard. The authorities should have worked with the bus operators before construction of the int to ensure there’s enough space.
There is no room for expansion for the new int, let alone whether its able to handle existing demand. Also, such crammed areas are bad especially when there's an emergency or fire. How the masses of people in such a crammed area able to escape? And stampede will occur. And such crammed areas are potential security threats such as terrorist attacks! This is serious issue despite having good security measures in place. An alternative solution to expand the current aircon BNL int is when the former Temp Int is demolished to make way for commercial property, construct part 2 of the BNL Int there. Although the 2 BNL int are separated, at least its still within walking distance of each other.
Back in 2006:
1) Didn't for-see QoS to surface.
2) Didn't for-see Tuas would expand.
3) Didn't for-see NTU intake would increase.
Wat's w/ the gabrament these days. Everything think of short term profits and everyone suffer later.

for one, parallel lots can't be too tight in spacing.
They never fore plan properly. Sengkang would soon face this prob as West side gets more developed.

SMRT have one more lot for parking
They also made SMRT two articulated lot into 4 rigid lot
Sometimes, the articulated bus will park at rigid lot
Road works in Boon Lay

yeah noticed the "lengthening" of lots on that side and the additional slot.
does this suggest all SMRTB parking will be on the far end of the interchange from May 8th onwards then current parallel lots for SBST?
confirmed
The 2 bendy lots is kena removed from SMRT, given to SBST for Sv 179. There's '179' marking on the lots ![]()
179- Berth 3 (directly behind svc 241)
199- Berth 4
Something is up for the old temp int , think maybe gonna be like hougang south or maybe for parking purpose .. not too sure
they redrew all the road markings inside ..
those who take 179 or 199 frequently, how is the waiting and boarding experience at the new interchange for these 2 services?

there's no point talking about this now.
wait for 30 august.

well... apparently it's gonna be something like the Hougang Bus Terminal(according to wikipedia, it is now being used as if it is like a 'multi purpose hall'{the one within HDB blocks, where different events can be held there} while waiting for the development of Kovan Hub).. haiz..
according to the Master Plan 2008(look at the picture below) and now with the pictures(above) posted, it seems that this is the fate for the temporary bus interchange.. haiz..

well.. I do miss the times when the temporary interchange site was just a plain grass patch and with the yellow station gates shut(if you know what I mean..) and only opens whenever there is a pasa laman or something.. and with the sun light striking into the add-value machines area.. ahh..
and to be frank, I do hope that the temporary bus interchange could be demolished soon and that scene could return once again.. another thing is: if the unused bus interchange is abandoned over time and used as a carpark, it's only going to like.. spoil Jurong's image if it continues to be there next time even after Jurong is completely developed(eg. Jurong Lake District)..
of course, I do hope that the site can also be turned to another shopping area, and if possible, another jurong point extension.. well, that's just what I dream of what Jurong would be next time.. ahh...
-just my opinions.. no offences please-..
I'd rather e temp int part of it become factory shuttle bus bay.. I mean can't continue it use Boon Lay Way.

ya.. everytime it's because of this that's why there is traffic jam during peak hours at there(particularly at Lakeside Mrt area and the road along the temporary interchange)... =.=.. haiz...
From the looks of the road works it seems like the temp int will put into use over the next few months or so. Reverting back to a grass patch will be out of the question for now.
the 179 parking lots are drawn to hold 2 buses in each lot.
Seems tat 154, 243 are now doing downroutes during AM peak to resolve e space crunch

Maybe can put to use as a big permanant pasar malam. ![]()

include 241.
Currently, the temp interchange are used to park the CDG YOG buses. Yet to see the SBST one.
Eh no wonder I see fences or over are they going to keep the former Boon lay Interchange after the YOG?
