SBS Transit Volvo B9TLs Wrights featured on Today's Straits Times, Home page B5.
Double deckers with curves and style.
Noticed anything different about SBS Transit's double decker buses?
For nearly two months, 11 new vehicles with new distinctive oval-shaped front and back windscreens have been on the roads.
The bodywork of the Volvo buses is made by Wrightbus, a Bristish manufacturer renowed for its aesthetic designs, said SBS Transit.
"They have more stylish interior and are more curvy rather than boxy in design," said Ms Tammy Tan, senior vice president of corporate communications.
The wheelchair friendly buses are used on services 60, 174 and 185.
With a capacity of 131 passengers, they carry a similar number of passengers as other double decker models.
More are being delivered, which will be used on other bus routes.
They are among the 450 double deckers ordered by the company over the last two years. They will all be delivered by 2012.
The 450 buses have engines which are compliant with EURO V, an emission standard adhered to vehciles sold in the European Union.
In 2006, SBS Transit started using wheelchair acessible ones.
