hi all bus fans,
i am kinda new here, but i have heard a lot abt u guys from tv, internet etc...
currently i am a NUS architecture student yr4, its my final year project and i am very intereted in use de-comissioned bus as my main design focus. As u all know that all the old bus are being thrown to 'graveyard' and disassemble and become history and part of our memories... its really a pity.
so wat i am suggesting is re-using the bus and designed them into some other uses like museum or places where u can live in... hmmm... to easier show wat i am trying to do... this is wat some ppl have done using de-commissioned planes...

and that i why i am here asking if there is anyone out there which have details of the decommissioned buses... from details to blueprints to 3d digital model... it will really help me in my work... and dun worry...i vowed not to disclose any information and if necessary i will put credits to my design...
thank you all
best regards,
Skyduo
Hi Skyduo,
First you might be pleased to hear that there are a few deregistered buses that have been preserved in Singapore. A Mercedes Benz O405 (WA) and few 2-axle Leyland Olympian, one which you can find at Youth Park. For access to the latter I think you need to write in to MCYS.
There are buses where decomissioning has begun. They are the Nissan Diesel, Mercedes Benz O405 (Walter Alexander), Volvo B10M Mark III. These buses are still available to ride around Singapore. For instance, Nissan Diesels can be found on Svc 178. You can try and board them and see for yourself.
One question - Do you have any intention to implement an actual prototype?
Hi,
Really glad to hear that there are some buses being preserved. Will go check out the youth park soon. But I wonder is the buses being use for any purpose or its just being displayed?
I know that there are buses constantly being decommissioned and those which are still available will soon be decommissioned soon too... But glad to know i can still get to board those buses to take a look. But it will be hard to examine the structure of the buses...
hmmm... currently this idea is still new and like everyone... no one knows if it is applicable... my intention is to use the buses to create a museum or hostel area so one can actually live in one decommissioned bus or move around the bus to look at all the collection of bus the bus fans have collected over the years... it will be a great heritage... its not A bus but a 3/4 storey buildings built basically from bus or bus part... if the ideas works... i will post it here and if all the bus fans think its visible... maybe i can ask my tutor to propose the implementation of the prototype...
but before all these can be made true... informations about the bus is important... other than graveyard, soon chow corporation and bus depot in defu lane... is there anyone i can look for to ask for detail info of the buses???
hmmm... i am wondering... which part of the bus is the most memorable? wat do u all expect to see in a preserved bus? the engine? the structure? the colour???

Structure and livery. Preferably the first livery the bus came in with.
