Ya might be, since NZ OF1417 and B57 bodies look similar.
Cheers.
SBS Longest bus in Asia, Volvo B10M MKIV Articulated Bus, rego SBS988Y.

Took it only once on ex-290. At that point of time 290 also have SBS999U in their fleet. When 290 was withdrawn, both articulated buses were allocated to 18 before sold to NZ/ Aust.

Cheers.

Should let the SBS Mercs bendy sell it to TIBS to try using it.

nope, SBS998Y came in 1996 after TIB838H while SBS999U came in 1997.

Artic buses are a headache as far as logistics are concerned for SBST.
Even the parking lot is a problem.
Heck, they never even had proper parking lots at Tampines Int throughout their stay here. Just the side of the road suffices.![]()

I rmb 7183K got a special upperdeck windscreen but this bus always got lots of problem. Instead 7186C was my favourite bus!

Some facts to share:
SBS 998Y:
- Debuted in 1996 as Asia's longest bus, a length of 19 metres, serving service 18.
- If the trial was successful back then, then SBS, would have considered bringing in the bi-articulated bus as well, which is now used in Brazil.
- It serves service 290 after that.
SBS 999U:
- Debuted in 1997/1998 as the second bendy demo by SBS, serving service 195.
- The only bendy bus in Singapore which has "curtains" covering the articulated section (interior).
- After that it was transferred to the east to serve service 18 and then 290.
Both buses are sold to New Zealand in the 2000s.

Description of the buses at the website:
First out and already moved is VS 243.She Looks well. These are Volvo B57 machines built in New Zealand by New Zealand Motor Bodies and run in Singapore for many years prior to coming to Ireland.
1. February 27, 2004. VS 243 has been collected and is in Ballinlough. This vehicle is one of the better VS and as can be seen from the photographs looks super. All of these were originally built by New Zealand Motor Bodies on Volvo B57 chassis and went to Singapore for service. Bus Eireann bought them from Singapore and over 300 have ended up in Ireland.
They are wickedly noisy beasts, desperate things to drive and you need ear muffs. However they are fully automatic and while the steering claims to be power steering any resemblance is generally coincidental.
Photos are from this website:
I remembered that 163 used to have 0405s n it ends at Jln Kayu before about 2002
