Note: Pre-Euro engines does not mean it produces more waste gases, it's just that the engine was designed before the euro standard was implemented and did not go thru certification. Also, the UD has japanese emission standards instead of european.
I managed to find some of my old newspaper cuttings in the 90s. There was a forum reply from Tibs claiming that all their buses bought since 1990 are Euro I standard. But it seems rather unconvincing isn't it? That means the Nissan UDS, the old DAF SB220LT buses are also Euro I compliant?
For Leyland Olympian, I have an old newspaper cutting advertising the then-new buses. It only mentioned these buses are greener as they uses CFC free refrigerants for the A/C. There was no mention of Euro I thingy.
There's another article mentioning the then-new first batch of Volvo Olympian buses. "They are environmentally friendly and meet the latest European community exhaust emission standards, making them the "cleanest" buses on the roads."
May I ask:
1. What does ADD means?
2. What is the difference between a debut and a cameo/DBBTM

ADD may refer to
A Dennis Dart
A Double Decker
-------------------------
A debut means that a bus first day on revenue service.
CAMEO is when a bus does another service, instead of its orignal deployment of service
DBBTM is just a stupid term introduced by ghost79. They NO BRAINS go copy Mark Chua sentence of It's just a Different Bus Breaking The Monotone..
DBBTM is a stupid word. in short.
We should all refer to CAMEO instead

ADD nt too sure, probably means DDs that are wheelchair accessible but i really not sure...
debut means that a specific model of bus doing a svc for the very 1st time while cameo means that a bus from different service coming to do a certain other service, although it, or a bus of similar model have done the service previously...
I am really a junior fan so correct me where i'm wrong thanks
or maybe ADD

a few questions of my own:
Is it possible that SBST install the eyeball a/c ducts on the Citaros? Many people are complaining that the bus extremely stuffy... (though imo it spoils the general design and clean lines of the panels in the bus.)
Is it possible, or feasible, to convert an existing low floor bus/low entry bus like the Trident, VSO or B10BLE into a WAB bus?

1. Probably a no, they will have to change the whole air-con duct.
2. It's a nono for that, it is very very costly to convert a low floor bus into a WAB.

anything is possible... just hv to see if LTA or SBS is gona pay the price...
if it's WAB like HK in the first place, many svc now would have become WAB oredi.

The problem is, they don't. And the VSO will only last for another 7 to 9 years, so it will be a waste of money.

govt are paying the cost of the ramp for all buses...it is up to whether they want to retrofit or not and why they fixed LECIP eds on VO3x when the VSO are newer than VO3x batch 3?

and hopefully the VSOs stay LECIP-free.

1: Ok... Some Citaros are quite rather cold, some, might be damn stuffy... then the ride quality depends on Konvekta's mood i guess...
2: really? how much does it cost?

What i mean is that buses might have produced pollutants within Euro I guidelines, but it has not been certified to be Euro I. This happens because the Euro I standard was only drafted in 1992, so some buses designed before this period would have met the standards, but not officially certified to be Euro I.

7-9 only??
Then why get COE when it lasts only 1 year more than that?
Why refurbish the old buses?
Why even bother to buy buses when they are going to last only 17 years anyway?
Personally I think it was quite a waste that we did not get more VSOs then....because with the benefit of hindsight, the VSO is proving its worth. Certainly more than the much-hyped (then) Tridents.

The manual wheelchair ramp, special bells and the wheelchair backing which is all paid for by the govt. It only costs $6000 for each CDGE B9 to be equipped with WAB friendly features. That's about 1% of the cost of each double deck bus.
Converting the B10TL and the B10BLE will cost slightly more for workmanship costs, but this is not expected to be a problem because the B10TL and B10BLE is provisioned to have a wheelchair ramp installed. (E.g. HK's VSO, UK's B10BLE).

U mean that the VSO and B10BLE could have been bought as WAB versions back in 2003?

yea, they could. Just need to install a ramp.
KMB/NWFB had their first Wheelchair accessible Trident in 1997, and VSO in 1999.

Can I ask y is the SBS 5xxx series and some SBS 8xxx Euro V KUBs having the backdoor so undermaintainence?
1) Closes too fast that both panels comes in together and sometime closes with the wrong side 1st (if you know wat i mean),
2) backdoors are loose, when bumping the door shakes alot with the broom broom sound and sometimes when i put my hand on the door, it can still open abit with a small gap
3) door misaligned, so when close, it still leaves a big gap on either side of the panel.

SMC Transit doors (the brand of doors on the KUBs, Volgren bendies etc.) are quite low quality imo. You see the Volgren bendies, going over bumps causes the doors to jump about, some even opening abit.....
Why does services like 154 have majority of it's fleet being Scania K230UBs, while on the other hand, services like 241 has double-decker buses? Is it for the sake of WAB?
