That's only the first batch. I think subsequently they will be deregistered batch by batch till next year, given if no extentions.
However looking at the situation now, I think that it is unwise to scrap all of them by this year which would cause SBST having not enough buses, unless they are buying more buses this year to replace the 100 VO2xes at least.
VO2X...
I still can recall them new-new on services like 10 and 31.
On one particularly exciting day, took VO2X on 31, and then took LO3X back.
That was the first time I took a Superbus and was really impressed by its comfortness.
Think that was 1994.
SBS9039G (SLBP 179) is still in service as of 08 March 2011 (Tuesday).

They were also new on services like 14, 65, 190 etc. Missed the days where these NAC double deckers did downroutes for 190 along Scotts Rd.
Superbus first came in 1993, with the Leyland Olympian version.

And I enjoyed travelling on VO2x on sv 74 and loved the breeze and the powerful accelaration of the bus. and till now, I still regard the Leyland olympians the most comfortable ADDs followed by the VO. The leylands are really quiet on the upper deck including the AC. Athough they are 17-18yrs old, they still do not vibrate much. This is contrast to the relatively new B9TL euro 3 buses. I think is due to the good engine + bodywork.

Actually the VO3x batch 1 are also very quiet, when they are new till now.

I remember those VO2Xes replacing the crappy LAs on 10, 30, 14, 65 & 196 back in 1994/95. They even served on short-haul route 18 while the west side had to make do with the 1985 R-type NAC DDs. So jealous of BDK residents and those served by BNDEP.
So, today
SBS 9039G, SBS 9040B, SBS 9042X, SBS 9048E should had been gone by today..
SBS 9080K will be extended..

This is epic. Remembered that this is the only air con double decker service in Serangoon interchange. Service standards of 106 was also much better back then.
106 was e first to get ADD on NE corridor if I still remembered.
61 was much better off under SBS
either way journey time still the same? or better?

Can't make the comparison for 106 now since under SBS it ended in Serangoon, but now, it only goes to Shenton Way. But frequencies and loading capacities are much better then.

Not 81, 97 or 147???
I remembered them having Leyland double decker air con buses as perms too... ![]()
I remembered SBS started deploying ADD on popular services that runs through Orchard Road in this sequence 7, 143, 111, 106, 190 and so on...memory failing but still recall the exciting moment when it was launched on Svc 143...

61 was one of the first to get VO3X. 9214-9224 were deployed.
SBS 9168 S - SBS 9187 L batch have received extensions till 22 March 2013 EXCEPT:
SBS 9176 T - 22 March 2011
SBS 9172 D - 23 March 2013

Superbuses were initially launched on CBD routes, starting with those plying Orchard Rd.
197 was the first route not plying Orchard to get them. Later on all high-demand routes became dominated by these buses, except those terminating @ BPJ.
Superbuses would have done route 5 if Tibs hadn't taken charge.

At that time the LAs that did these services were bound for retirement, so the newly introduced VO2x got to replace them. Service 10 was the 1st service to get VO2x and VO3x if I remember correctly.
Adding on services 7, 61 and 190 which also had VO2x too.
