i'm sure you know the gap between the last evenng 502A/502B and the next 502? it is at least half an hour! running full trips will achieve sub-15-minute headways.
sadly there is no way we can ask basic service buses to supp 502 in the old format after they've reached boon lay at 6pm because of QoS. express services are non-essential.

They should also think of the travelling time to Pioneer Rd Nth for this service during the evening peak hrs. 502/ 502B should never had thought of using Boon Lay during the peak hrs. Last 2 weeks, I still see 502B stuck at Boon Lay way at about close to 7pm.
The route can also be improved by letting the bus service running in anti-closewise direction since now it is a one-way route in the city. That means it will goes to Marina Bay sands first then back to Orchard then to Soon Lee. This will also helps to avoid the heavy traffic along Orchard Rd.

going back to SLBP for 502 will be faster, service 97 going 1 round (at least for a reason), the end for 502B (the service that most commuters didnt knw it terminates at jrg west ave 1) & for 133M, it should have introduced a new number instead because the route is not related to its parent service
so why does 97 need to go to Suntec City 2 timeS?

2 different directions.
1 is towards Marina Centre Terminal. The other is towards Jurong East.
The direction towards Jurong East remains very much the same on the Suntec City side, while the direction towards Marina Centre Terminal is on the opposite side of the road.

most of the pax are not on that side of the road. PTC won't approve. not forgetting a double loop in e marina area just to serve suntec along temasek blvd/ave.
well, what if people start complaining long waiting times in the evening peak for any kind of relavent sv502 variant that brings them home? after all, people can't be late for work, whereas fewer people have to meet a timeline for going home lest they get fired from home.
of course, as a resident of Pioneer, you can seek your MP or SLBP friend's help to feedback, they might consider it seriously. but i can foresee headway nearing 40mins after the last 502A/502B has left, versus a maximum headway of 20mins after 7.45pm and 13-14mins before.
Very confusing...... the way they plan >.<
Will this route amendment affect the fleet number of the amended bus services?
Originally posted by transportspartan:Will this route amendment affect the fleet number of the amended bus services?
Certainly. A lot of them got extensions on their routes.
I was so surprised when 97e got amendmend to & frm Jurong East. I thought of having 97 will be amendmend, but its true. I think 97e will effect the workers who are alighting & boarding frm Shenton Way. It would be better if 97e starts frm Marina Bay Sands passing by Suntec City & Shenton Way area and back to exisiting route to JE on PM Peak. It will cause troublesome for workers who are going to Shenton Way in AM peak.

oh.. .they should just loop 97...
JurongEast >>> Bayfront Ave > left turn to Raffles Ave > Esplanade > Temasek Blvd > Suntec City > straight back to Bayfront Ave > Jurong East
97, 106, 133, 502, 518
something is wrong
from MBS there are direct buses to Orchard, Bugis and of course Shenton Way and Suntec
but not a single bus goes to Chinatown or Little India
why the need for so many Shenton Way <-> MBS links, either 106 or 133 should go to new bridge road terminal
Hmm I think the 502 amendment is quite something which I will be affected by. To go Orchard from Jurong is the same, however from Orchard to Jurong, we have to board the bus from orchard road, go one big round to bras basah, suntec, marina bay sands area, to ecp to aye, the return leg from Orchard to Jurong is a lot longer then the existing 502 from penang road. I think I would rather take train confirm faster and nowadays with the frequency of 502 and the KUBS, it is always crowded to the max. What do you guys think? return leg u guys will take one big round from orchard?

everybody will have to go through the same route.... alight first board first, alight last board last. anyway headways should be better. for example on saturdays passing by MBS stop:

How about extending 23 to Shenton Way and 857 to New Bridge Rd instead? ![]()
i like this 502 route.
but they really could do with an evening 502A. 1 DD is fine. see demand 1st if wanna be careful. AYE > Clementi Ave 6 > PIE > JW West Ave 4. > Corporation Rd > Boon Lay Ave.
518A evening was fast.
my only disappointment is both the express services A portion evening is no more.
133M should just be given an exclusive service number...
my $0.02.

you get a seat 1st. and AYE > Clementi Ave 6 is definitely faster than PIE...
if like tis, can make additional stop at C'wealth Ave West (Blk 203 pair)? ![]()

They can transfer to Sv 970 from Shenton Way for Chinatown, Sv 130 for Bugis and Little India.

i dun think 502A evening trip will work
this is due to evening jam at clementi ave 6 heading twrds PIE jurong (like what service 185 exprienced)
especially if it's between 5.45-6.30 or 7pm
though it is fast actually but still time is precious
unless the route is something like this:
AYE-clementi ave 6-commonwealth ave west-toh guan rd- PIE- ave 2 - Boon lay ave
or
AYE-corporation rd-Boon lay ave lol

502A evening trip would work very well .
This part you no need to worry ....
Cause Since the Enhanced 502 introduced in 23 Dec 2005 ...
The bonus thing is this : " This service may ply different routes along the express sector subject to traffic conditions"
This gives the driver to choose any route he wants to get to the destination during the Non Stop Express Sector ...
There have been cases .. 502A twds Orchard suddenly uses PIE> Toh Guan Road > Boon Lay way > Holland to get to orchard
I have also seen 502 on its return trip from stevens road use bukit timah rd back to boon lay way
seen 502B use PIE towards orchard
etc many variations
Normally OCC would inform them if there is a jam and then bc uses alternative route to avoid jam .. or the bc takes initative to use alternative route when stuck in jam ...
so there is no fixed route in the express sector unlike 185 bo bian die die have to use Clementi ave 6 cos 1st stop is immediately after jurong town hall exit ..
