Finally something logicial from u. Lower mileage but I must say is not comfortable as compared to PIE. Bumpy rides. I am drivers too I know. Anyway, should be flexible. Not to use Boon Layway - Commonwealth during the peak hrs is the thing they should do now.
i am the one who is logical, it's you who is the one who isnt. just look at the responses toward you. please finetune the correct factual statements before stating them.
using PIE during the evening peak from after bt batok east ave 3 is just asking for trouble with definite jams. the jams on PIE are worse than those on cwealth ave west or stoppages by traffic lights
overall, i rather save mileage and time going by cwealth ave west, cle ave 2, ulu pandan rd, holland rd. outside evening peak hours, journey time is the same just that the traffic light stoppages makes journey time feel stretched but is still not longer than the PIE routing.
i saw a BC from Sv 133 driving SBS 8756B gives out leaflets about regarding MBS extension to the boarding passengers.
Obviously, fleet addition for 133 use KUB Euro V B2... cant be other buses lol
A bus isnt a car. A car can swerve in and out of traffic jams if the driver is skilled. A bus cant and has to stay on the left most lane 93% of the time.
So if I give you 2 routes for express route from Synergy to Orchard, a bus using a straight route with lesser turns and changing lanes will edge out a winding route with changing lanes many times. Im ignoring mileage here as there's a clear winner for this.
1. PIE: L-Toh Tuck Ave (no problem) then keep right to turn right (so-so but depends on the queue to PIE), then enter PIE (have to deal with merging traffic) then keep right cos ALOT of vehicles exit at Clementi Ave 6 (big problem), then deal with merging traffic when entering the main PIE road. Then at every entry and exit points have to deal with the merging and exiting traffic and you know how cars and taxis cut lane like using penknife. Then you approaching Adam Flyover it feels slow. You tune in to hear Flying Dutchman saying "Heavy traffic on the PIE towards Changi at the Stevens Rd exit". If that makes it to the radio EVERY MORNING, you know u cant go anywhere faster with this. Stevens Rd ok but when it comes to the Anderson Rd right turn.. another problem. So many problems already you still want the drivers to continue driving? This is WITHOUT traffic lights being brought into the picture.
2. Holland: Straight down to C'wealth Ave West. Slight queue at the Clementi Ave 6 junction, then down to Clementi MRT and sometimes some idiots park their vehicle just before the Clementi MRT stop but keeping 1 lane out isnt a very big problem (but on PIE it IS a problem!). Then left to Clementi Ave 2 and you get a problem here - the cut 3 lanes to turn right to Ulu Pandan Rd. This area chews up time but its a one off issue. The traffic lights at this junction are favourable so it wont take very long for the bus to turn out. If S7 can do it, S502 can too. Ulu Pandan and Holland Rd are generally smooth flowing other than the fact that there's alot of traffic lights. Even if the left lane is blocked shifting to the centre lane is easier compared to the PIE when the cars and trucks and maybe the 190s overtake you like the road is collapsing from behind.
If applying this to PM peak, no 2 will still edge out despite both having equally bad jams. However in most cases PIE gets jams worse than holland rd.
People at Scotts are affected yes. But got think where they actually walk from to the bus stop for 502? probably areas like Hyatt, Far East Plaza, Lido, Wheelock, Hilton, Forum and Delfi. These fellas affected are likely to be young and able bodied. If they can walk from Wheelock to Far East Plaza for a cheap lunch I dont see what's the problem in walking from Far East Plaza to Thai Embassy for 502?
even car driver like me hate using PIE AM/PM peak. what more bus drivers with 60km/h, plying the same way 3-4 times a day.
The amendment for 502 is good.
But why extend 133 and not 111 instead? If not, they should have extend 133 to stop at New Bridge Road terminal, to cover a link from Chinatown to Marina Bay Sands, via Marina/Central Boulevard, Church Street/Cross Street, Pickering Street/Upper Cross Street, Eu Tong Sen Street/New Bridge Rd to New Bridge Road terminal.
Since 130 already plys to Shenton Way terminal.
Seriously, I think 70 might cut back to Geylang Lor 1/Stadium terminal.
Slated freq for 133M is 45-50 min =S

whoa...that's bad...seems like there's only one bus...

That's a lousy frequency imo. Don't tell me SBST have not enough buses to go with. Weekday is understandable that there is little demand for MBS but for Weekends, oh god.
Anyway, i went to check the ammended EDS for Sv 106. It shows Shenton Way but some how added a few more lines such as 'NAPIER AVENUE' and 'TANGLIN ROAD' which is quite awkward. Follows 963R style.

lol. there isnt a need for it in the first place. keep it at 45-50mins will do. or re deploy darts over at half the frequency.

There's 106 covering the Marina Bay MRT to MBS sector, and 97 covering the MBS - Suntec sector. and with CCL they can just take the train.

It's a stop gap service if anyone were to notice over 133M before the proposed CCL spur line to Bayfront is completed.
Meaning to say just to link ppl from MB Sands to Promenade.
This morning TIs were on site to inform Sv 97 passengers over the AIA & Fullerton diversion. Apparently many didn't know abt it.
Think tis afternoon TIs would be on site at Orchard Rd & Suntec

Since 97 amended to serve MBS,
is 97A still operating ? If i remember correctly, 97A ends at the esplanade bus-stop

No more, in any case 97A is no more needed since it's bi-directional service.
