It's hard to say. VSOs are currently transferred around, alot of times as back up buses.Originally posted by tranquilice:I'm repeating this again...9837U is on service 25.

9843B and 9845X were back to back.Here a question
:
Everytime around 12.45pm there will be a VSO reaching Hougang Ctrl interchange. However, the bus will go off somewhere and come back to Hougang Ctrl ard 1.30pm. Anyone knows where the bus went and why?
I wish to make a little amendments here. I do believe 9846T is also for svc 168. Yesterday 9846T to 9849K were deployed on service 168. The buses for svc 161 should be 9842D to 9845X, 4 buses for each service.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Ok let me say this , the VSO buses goes around sometimes and its hard to say whether that bus will be on that service everyday but this is PROBABLY the perm fleet of VSO .

Nope. SBS Transit, in my opinion, will only replace the Leyland Superbuses in 2008, when the bus reaches 15 years of age.Originally posted by pkchukiss:Hi! I thought I was the only person in the world with a craze for buses!
I take service 133 to school everyday, and I know that they usually send those Mercedes single deck (don't know the exact model number, but I do know it is a very old bus), but one fine day, when I left the school gate, lo and behold I saw a double decker, not a Leyland bus (for once), and I quickly dashed to catch it.
Nice bus... The seats are slightly inclined backwards for passenger comfort. It is designed so that when someone plumps his weight down next to you, you stay undisturbed, unlike the previous buses (even Volvo Olympian!). The air-conditioning was superb, but a little cold since it was raining that day. I noticed that they left the "Bus Stopping" sign there (it doesn't even make any sense to me) instead of a simple red bar for the Volgren double deck series.
I have not read up much about the bus, but from what I have experienced, Volvo's done it again! For once, my bone did not creak from stress like the ordinary days. Compared to the VSO, the Leyland buses seem like an old grandfather! I guess it is the suspension, they smooth out the bumps on the road, and I almost fell asleep on the bus from the humming of the engine if not for the fact that I was so excited. And yes, I remember the bus number: SBS 9841 (forgot the last alphabet, but I think it's G)
So, is it true that SBS is replacing the Leylands with these awesome VSOs??
I do think you are referring to Dennis Trident?Originally posted by pkchukiss:Hi! I thought I was the only person in the world with a craze for buses!

I was onboard Express 502 Dennis Trident (9686M) just now and I saw a VSO on the opposite side of the road, along Jurong East Ave 1. I look closely and was shocked to see that the bus is deployed on service 157. How come more and more partial-air-con services are getting VSO?Originally posted by off_service:SBS 9802 U is operating on service 157 today.
Well, the registration number is indeed SBS 9841 G. For your info, Svc 133 has 3 of them, namely 9839, 9840 and the mentioned reg. number. These 3 musketeers are real cool! The mentioned Mercedes buses are Mercedes Benz O.405. Their bodyworks are of Duple Metsec (DM) and Alexander PS. DM bodies O.405 bodies are rather squarish, while the Alexander PS looks long and curvey.Originally posted by pkchukiss:Hi! I thought I was the only person in the world with a craze for buses!

Cameos perhaps? I have a feeling SBST are putting these VSOs on these routes for trials, to see if the route is suitable. Sv. 88 does need VSOs, Sv. 157 can make do with LOs and VOs.Originally posted by tranquilice:I was onboard Express 502 Dennis Trident (9686M) just now and I saw a VSO on the opposite side of the road, along Jurong East Ave 1. Beside this, also board 9845X just now on service 161. Whole journey took 45 minutes. But the bus moves like a snail along the SLE.
Yes, service 88 needs VSO since the demand is higher than service 157. I remembered when service 88 was introduced in Feb 1999, all its buses are SD. Then when Sengkang gets more residents, SBST deployed DD on this service due to the increasing load.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Cameos perhaps? Yes, Sv 157 route does NOT pass through many major housing estates, only place passengers are more is stretch from Boon Lay to Jurong West area and to extent, Bukit Batok.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, service 88 needs VSO since the demand is higher than service 157. For service 157, you will notice that it duplicates route with services 66 & 174 from Bukit Batok to Dunearn Rd. I was thinking to let service 157 ply another route to Boon Lay from Dunearn Rd, and let service 174 replaces the route of service 157 from Dunearn Rd to Boon Lay, since the demand along Jurong Rd is very low.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Yes, Sv 157 route does NOT pass through many major housing estates, only place passengers are more is stretch from Boon Lay to Jurong West area and to extent, Bukit Batok.
Sv. 88 however passes through Pasir Ris, Sengkang, Hougang, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Toa Payoh, and passenger load is heavy. In that case Sv. 88 is a worthy recipient of new buses.
If Sv. 88 were diverted it would add even more pain to the butt to an already long route, however it may happen and is feasible.Originally posted by tranquilice:For service 157, you will notice that it duplicates route with services 66 & 174 from Bukit Batok to Dunearn Rd. For service 88, do you think whether it is ok for this service to ply Compassvale Rd instead of Punggol Rd, like services 27 & 89. This is to bring passengers closer to Sengkang MRT station and Compass Point Shopping Mall.
Sv. 133 VSOs may return to Sv. 55, Sv. 55 drivers need to familliarize with handling double-deck buses before SBST will give them new buses, IMO.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Heard that the VSO of bus 133 may be transferred to other services . We see what happens after NE line opens .
Don't worry, the diversion is only minor. It just plys another road paraell to Punggol Rd.Originally posted by SBS9818A:If Sv. 88 were diverted it would add even more pain to the butt to an already long route, however it may happen and is feasible.
