Do a bus captain drives buses of the same service the whole day? or he has to drive buses of different services in the same interchange/terminal?Originally posted by SBS9818A:Sv. 133 VSOs may return to Sv. 55, Sv. 55 drivers need to familliarize with handling double-deck buses before SBST will give them new buses, IMO.
I see, the change is based on depot, not interchange/terminal.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Bus drivers are normally assigned FIXED routes, however there are drivers based at a certain depot and drive the routes assigned to them on a day-by-day basis. Which means one day this guy who is based in the depot can work Sv. 55 and the next day he goes to Sv. 159, for example.
For your Sv. 88 route there would be sector duplication with Sv. 156, passengers can get off at Buangkok Green and take Sv. 156 to Sengkang. It would not be cost-effective to alienate the Hougang community in that way.
Yes, service 88 should be amended to ply Compassvale Rd to serve Sengkang MRT station and Compass Point.Originally posted by xin1jun2:my guess is that service 88 will be re routed to go to SK MRT stn. it is ridiculous to find service 88 go punggol rd and punggol rd is not even where the interchange/ central is.
service 83 is still a ridiculous service. it shd have been integrated with svc 136 in the first place.

basically the bus 136 can make a large loop ard the punggol. u see service 136 heads to wards punggol. then it follows today 136 route until the point where it needs to go edgefiled plains, from here on it takes over 83's today route before going to punggol rd.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, service 88 should be amended to ply Compassvale Rd to serve Sengkang MRT station and Compass Point.
How do services 83 & 136 integrate? since service 136 ply Rivervale Dr and not Sengkang MRT station area.
When service 88 was introduced on 28 Feb 1999, it already served Buangkok Green, the only thing is that the link to Sengkang from Buangkok Green didn't exist during that time, so service 88 had to turn into Hougang.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Drivers can request to change route, however many of them choose not to as they are happy with their present route. Also the fact that it would be cumbersome to do so puts them off.
Yes, when Sv. 88 was launched in 1999 there was no Buangkok Green yet, all buses had to use Punggol Rd, only when the road was completed and services were extended did SBST begin to use Buangkok Green.
I do agree that Sv. 88 route through Hougang is long winded, it is a pain in the butt.
If that is the case, it will cause inconvenience as Punngol residents still need to go to Sengkang town centre, but service 136 didn't serve it.Originally posted by xin1jun2:basically the bus 136 can make a large loop ard the punggol. u see service 136 heads to wards punggol. then it follows today 136 route until the point where it needs to go edgefiled plains, from here on it takes over 83's today route before going to punggol rd.
very big loop.
but i think passengers dun need to go town centre yet.( that is how ZYX136 runs.).
once the MRT starts ZYX bus might inroduced a feeder service to serve edgefiled and punggol field

Hmm...this forum was indeed off topic before you brought it back to track.Originally posted by off_service:Hi forumers,
I'm glad to say that the earlier VSOs deployed were now in great shapes. As for newer buses, (983x, 984x), I would say that 9846T is one of the best.
Enjoy your VSO rides!!

Hmm, sorta I think. Talking about the 983X and 984X VSOs, they are okie now. I seen the most beautiful action of VSOs yesterday. 2 Service 133 VSOs going on each of the opposite direction (one went towards AMK, one went towards Suntec City). That was a nice feeling that I've ever felt.Originally posted by tranquilice:It has become Sengkang bus routes discussion board.
Yup, I second that. Service 161 might be also getting Dennis Trident as part of the fleet.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:I suspect after NE line open , some of the tridents and perhaps 9888 will transfer over to bus 7 .
They have similar engines, the Leyland Olympians have a Cummins LT10 while the Tridents have a Cummins M11.Originally posted by pkchukiss:Somehow I get the feeling that I am addicted to Volvo buses. I think it is the noise it makes whenever it accelerates - it sounds so smooth and great!
I always had the feeling that the Dennis Tridents had similar acceleration sounds as the Leyland 3-axles...
Why service 7? For me, I would like to see 9888 and tridents on service 14.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:I suspect after NE line open , some of the tridents and perhaps 9888 will transfer over to bus 7 .
Simply because 9888Y is from HGDEP, and service 7 is the only double deck service in Bedok from HGDEP.Originally posted by tranquilice:Why service 7? For me, I would like to see 9888 and tridents on service 14.
Why is service 7 from Hougang depot and not Bedok North depot?Originally posted by off_service:Simply because 9888Y is from HGDEP, and service 7 is the only double deck service in Bedok from HGDEP.
