Hey folks! What are your favourite single deck buses?
For me, my favourite buses are:
SBST:
Volvo Mark 2 (Powerful old horses), Volvo Mark 4 Strider, DM 3500, Scania 35XX-37XX, MB O405 (DM, WA), Volvo B10BLE, Scania L94UB (Haven't board it)
TIBS:
MB0405, MB0405G Volgren, MB O405G Habit, MB O405 Volgren, Scania ELBO (2 a certain extent) -
Scania ELBO of TIBS are fire prone. A few have sinced caught fire, twice at Geylang Lor 1 Terminal.
Best are SBST MK4 DM buses. MB Volgren of TIBS are the best. -
I prefer TIBS buses.. not sure what's their brand and models.

I prefer SBS buses .
My favourites are Mark 2 , Mark 4 strider , FS "Mark 5" , Volgren mercedes bus and thats it I think . -
my fav single deckers will be:
DAF SB220
DAF alexander
Scania L94UB
Scania L113 elbo
Scania L113 alexander / soon chow-PSV
Merc 0405 volgren body
Scania N113CRB
Merc 0405G hispano mark 1 / 2, habitbus, volgren

I'll give comments for every bus, but my favourtie is Tibs MB O405
SBS
Mk2 -- powerful.. i like. but seems to deteriote with age.. sometime wrong with the tyres...
Mk3 -- very good when first introduced, but sucks now.. a/c not cold, engine no power
Mk4 -- only like the DM bodies with pink seats
MB O405 -- leaky air-cons.. argh//
noisy too
Tibs
MB O405 Hispano -- very good, even after 7 years... my favourite
DAF -- very noisy, but can go very fast eh?
MB O405 Volgren -- nice design, but i think suspension too soft and the window seems to have static when the bus goes over a hump... bus seems to be unable to go fast.. seems bulky
Scania -- fast, but MB would be better -

Merc O.405s with the ZF 5HP 500 gearbox, not the MB W3E.080 gearbox; Scania N113CRBs, Scania L113CRL's of SBS Leisure, O.405G's with ZF gearboxes, and with Hispano bodies (Scrap any Hispano Habit body); M.A.N 16.240 HOCL's of SJE; UD U31RCN, UD U31SCN.
No longer in service:
Volvo B57's, Merc OF1417, Merc O.303 coach, Leyland Victory.

I like the Scania N113 series of buses, the DM3500 Mk IVs, practically anything except I have dislike for certain bodywork.

I loved the bellow of the exhaust brake as they slowed down, it would send shivers down my own spine (as well as a tremor thru the bus itself

Leyland Victory is frightening , the noise of the engines hurt my ears big time .

What happened to the SBS Volvo Sentosa coaches? Are those Mk4s?

you mean there are mk3s and mk4s? i saw there are different seats on the SBS coaches. some had those seats with the thick, round grab bar (like the seats on mk3s). the oher with the new grab bar (like seats on mk4s)... -

The ex-Sentosa Volvos are Mark 4s, note that the radiator is now placed on the nearside. The ex-Sentosa B10M-61s are Mk IV buses, seen from the radiator mounted on the nearside. Before SBS Leisure was appointed to serve Sentosa, SBS had used Mk III buses before, one was SBS 635U(believe it's still with Sv. 156)

I like the SBST single deck Scania buses, but too bad, they are mainly deployed in the east region.
If you have take SBST 15 a few years back, some of the buses are very old type (SBS 000X to 003X ?). This type of buses is seen most on the PREVIOUS service 3 (Bedok to Jurong East, I think withdrawn in 1991). -

It's a Nissan Diesel U31SCN. I can't stand the exit door, the speed at which it closes is too rapid!
