The 60km/h speed limit, and governing of the bus.

What are all of your thoughts on the governing of the speed of the bus, and the speed limit of 60km/h?
I also find that the gearboxes don't even have a chance to get into top gear, due to the low speed, and the engine wear would be savage on these buses. Also, the engines rev pretty high, clouding out the hub reduction on the O.405s

Excuse me windy, please remove the burn VSO signature. It is a very unpleasant phrase to be used. SOunds like terrorist to me.

Charles, according to a TIBS driver we asked, the DAFs are SLOOOOW European rural buses and "cannot go fast". Whenever I take Sv. 989, the O405 goes very fast, making it seem like it's not speed limited.

Strange. The DAFs on service 852 and 989 (TIB 701, long time ago) was speeding away. Ar, this regulation is such is lousy thing to have! But this is Singapore!!!!!!!!
Everthing seems to be restricted here anyway
I'm sure that all the buses can go more than that, of course cars can travel 100km/h on PIE, but they are like tortises on a straight wide road at 70-80km/h.
Buses nowadays can move fast and its time wasting for them to go slow. When they go faster, less time is required for the journey and the driver can take more rest and less work.
70km/h-80km/h should be more reasonable. -

I do agree with you Windy. Also, SBST configures the settings of the VSOs engines and therefore they couldn't be driven at rather high speed. As for the DAFs, I thought that the newer DAFs could run quite fast.Originally posted by Windy_hates_B10TLs:Howdy there, All!

It does depend on the shedule that the driver has. If they are running early, then they need to slow down. At the same time, if the timings are generous, then there is no need to speed. Fang Sheng, I see no problem with Windy's signature. He wants to express his opinion that he dislikes VSOs, and since this is a forum where freedom of expression is allowed, the signature should remain.

Most Singapore buses are limited by speed limiters (VDO Speed Limiter for TIBS, for example). Therefore it's understandable that the bus accelerates slower. Also, it depends on schedule, road condition and the driver himself/herself. -

Yes , I agree . Dislking of buses is one thing , Burning a new bus ? That is an act of terrorist .

Think of others first , dont think of yourself. There are VSO fans around , do you like me to have a " FXXX off Scania bus " as my signature ?
