I don't think VSOs will be deployed. It would be unfair for Bedok North to get so many buses (certainly not including Scanias). Most probably VOs of either series will be deployed. Who knows, SBST might deploy Tridents to compete with TIBS' EDSOriginally posted by Airbus330Captain:SBS will introduce Superbuses on bus 161 and 168 . More infomation coming up soon .
I hope to see VSO on bus 161 and 168 . Please ,no Leyland buses .![]()
The source is from Ishak , he sms me today and I think we can hear more about it from him later .Originally posted by SBS9819Y:What is the source of the news? When will more information be released?
In my opinion, VOs 3 Axle might be deployed on them as an introductory to Woodlands Residents. Another opinion is that SBST might deploy VSOs as SBST might want to show off their latest bus fleets among SBSTOriginally posted by Airbus330Captain:SBS will introduce Superbuses on bus 161 and 168 . If the double decks would be able to meet the demands, SBST would not shorten the headways for service 161.Originally posted by FireIce:im a regular of 161
woodlands to sengkang to hougang
hate to stand all the way
hope DD will be able to fetch more ppl
they wun reduce the frequency of it rite?
Well, I think we have to wait till furthur notices are given.Originally posted by Superbus:Hi,It's true that Superbuses and any other double decks can operate to Woodlands Regional Interchange.
But sadly, I can't confirm whether SBST is to deploy the Superbuses on the 161/168 routes. I've yet to receive a reply from them.
Cheers and warm regards
I thought load factor on 156 is pretty high .Originally posted by SBS9818A:Oliver, you can wait long long for my Sv. 156 to have double-decksThe reason why Sv. 156 cannot have DDs is due to the poor load factor and the fact that the route traverses through Sixth Avenue, and it is not viable to operate DDs as there are low-lying trees. Furthermore, it is a narrow 1-lane road.
Well, it's always high untill the bus reached Bishan MRT Stn. Abt 1/3 or 1/2 of the bus commuters will alight the bus.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:I thought load factor on 156 is pretty high .
it's high along bt. timah rd during sch hours, sometimes i cannot get on the bus at macRitchie going to bishan. whole bus full of students. i agree the bus is quite empty after bishan, but there r still pple going sengkang.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Well, it's always high untill the bus reached Bishan MRT Stn. agreedOriginally posted by SBS9818A:Charles, every time I take Sv. 156 during the weekend(I've taken it from Bishan to Sengkang and Bishan to Clementi and vice-versa), the bus is practically empty. No more than 20 other people will be in the bus.
At night, there would be less than 10 people on the bus at any given time. On weekdays however, it's a different story, I call my Sv. 156 "Schoolbus service".
That is a stupid extension i think. This is because that was my only direct bus to Bishan and they extended it. However it doesn't seem to be effective, meaning having VERY HIGH FACTOR LOAD. Unless it's in the morning, afternoon n evening. the factor load wouldn't be high.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Charles, every time I take Sv. 156 during the weekend(I've taken it from Bishan to Sengkang and Bishan to Clementi and vice-versa), the bus is practically empty. Maybe they should implement what TIBS did to service 189 with West Coast Ferry Terminal's surrounding road were under some sort of construction:Originally posted by SBS9816E:That is a stupid extension i think. Originally posted by SBS9818A:Perhaps shortworking trips can be introduced from Sengkang to all the schools in Bukit Timah area using double-decks, only in the morning, while for the afternoon it starts from Bukit Timah and winds up to Sengkang, again using DD buses. Maybe I should suggest this to SBST.
I have thought of this idea for svc 105 too. It's shortworking svc, 105A, travels from S'goon Int to Whitley Rd (o/s Tanglin CC) has no height restriction. However, I think SBST might not wanted too as S'goon Ave 3 seems to be quite narrow for any D/D to drive in.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:I really hope to see bus 9 in DD . I know that there is a height restriction at Changi Cargo Complex , perhaps they can use the DD bus on bus 9A route and then after 9A route , they can return back to Bedok on bus 9 route . That means the DD appears only 9A to the direction of changi airport cargo and then heading back to Bedok from Pasir ris Drive 1 .
However, you all must think, is there a way for the dd to make U-turn to the other direction. If it's making a huge loop before going it can turn back, it would not be advisable.Originally posted by SBS9816E:I have thought of this idea for svc 105 too.
