Hello,
Singapore's bus services and Malaysia's bus services are very different. One aspect is the integration of the different bus companies. Here in Singapore, SBST, TIBS and SMRT are all integrated to form a seamless transportation network which is one of the most efficient in the world. In Malaysia, there are many small bus companies which is not that integrated. However the Malaysian authorities is now integrating all the public transport operators. One example is the government's purchase of DRB Hicom's IntraKota and STAR-LRT/ Putra-LRT.
The magnetic farecard system known as Transitlink in Singapore, is not exclusive to Singapore, therefore the system can be seen on Malaysian buses. Malaysian bus operators does not operate any double-deckers, not sure if any of them are planning to.
Cheers and warm regards
The different companies operates similar or totally the same services, causing a lot of duplication of services. They race around and are easy to meet accidents. The services usually go to KL town, therefore passengers may need to go to town before going to the destination, sometimes they have no choice but a taxi or LRT.
The 'EZlink' there is called the Touch and Go card, which is also the one for the highways. The magnetic farecard validator can be seen on Intrakota buses.
There are no double decks but there are semi double decker coaches operating.
There are some services that can use double decks/articulated buses but they aree very conversatives, sticking to the standard 12m buses of all types.
