More, bigger buses during peak hours

  According to sunday times today, 20 heavily used bus routes will get more frequent and bigger buses during peak hours from tomorrow.

  SBST will add 24 bus trips a day from Mondays to Fridays and double decker buses will be deployed on services 9, 27, 45, 53, 131, 145, 163, 166, 183 and 198 instead of single decked ones.

  SMRT will add 47 bus trips daily and deploy more bendy buses for services 67, 75, 180, 184, 187, 188, 190, 858, 911 and 960. The company has bought 9 new buses to service those heavily used routes, SMRT vice-president said.

  I don't see 980 here though. Having to wait 25+mins for a bus to even arrive, GG liao.

  for 858, I don't think it's the full trip to CGA la, noting that it's near impossible to turn thru the PTBs. More of the WDL/SBW/YIS leg. Maybe we will see an 858A of sorts for the bendies.

  I miss the old 139 DDs. But uh DD on 145??

  But the crowd of 187 is not too packy during AM peak, if you happen to take a rigid. Only bendy is packed. Somemore, the current frequency during the peak keeps 5 to 8 mins. However, need to work out on PM peak's frequency, can wait more than 10 minutes.....

   

• Seriously, 902 and 961 frequency also need to be adjusted. The crowds for 902 are mainly from 161/168. If 2 buses reaches WRI, you can see how terrible the queue for 902 is. Maybe can add in new 187S151 slot (x-over to 902 during RP school days) As for 961, I saw newspaper 2 weeks ago about a commuter complain about waiting time for 961: 20 to 30 mins. If unlucky (bus full packed) he will have to wait for another 'empty' bus.
