Captain, why do you like Scania N113 so much? =XOriginally posted by Airbus330Captain:Well , to answer some of you guys out there who must be wondering what are these folks talking about ? Buses ? What so good about them ?
Most of us who post here love buses , we decided to set up this forum so that all of us can discussed whatever issue and also able to look back at the past topics if having doubts . The issues that we usually talked about is the bus types . To most , most buses look the same to them but we talked about the different bus types , the pros and cons and we will announced all the newest bus types . How do we know ? Some of us get inside infomation from SBS or TIBS and usually if we spot anything rare , we will sms each other and then someone will post here .
Feel free to ask anything and especially bus services . We will try to help you .
Cheers and happy posting .
I do know that a Bendy Bus costs at least S$440,000 (released in the news years ago). Most of the bus models are the same as the manufacturer's, but the engine and interior are configured to suit their needs, just like buying a car.Originally posted by the Bear:how much does SBS and TIBS pay for their top-of-the-range bus?
SBS would be the new superbuses and TIBS their bendy ones.
also, are they custom-made? that is, a bunch of requirements are sent to, say, Volvo, then Volvo manufactures them accordingly.
Payment : That one is strictly confidental to the companies , we dont know about it . Unless someone from the group knows the answer .Originally posted by the Bear:how much does SBS and TIBS pay for their top-of-the-range bus?

Why do you "like" them ?Originally posted by off_service:Captain, why do you like Scania N113 so much? =X
I don't like Lance 211, UD, Scania N/L113, Elbo...
Captain, juz bear them for another year! However, Scania buses do run pretty fast. Enjoy them while they speed!Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Why do you "like" them ?
I dont like them because they of the interior , engine and they are operating on my favourite services !!! 197 and 87 (poor thing ) . Give me an 0305 anyday over the Scania buses . The only scania bus i like is the L94 SBS2888T .
I don't think many people can understand all these technical terms. However, there's a conflict here- Darryl says 9401-9600 are 2nd batch of VOs, and u separated them into 2 batches. Who is correct?Originally posted by SBS9816E:Let me go thru the list of buses in details:
Leyland Olympian 3 Axle (SBS 9000- 9199) has an Alexander Royale Bodywork. It has Cummins LT10 Engine and a ZF 4HP500 Gearbox. (Why Cummins Engine? Could anybody tell me pls? Thanks)
Volvo Olympian 3 Axle (1st batch) (9200-9400) has an Alexander Royale body. It has Volvo TD102KF engine with ZF 4HP500 gearbox. It has emergency exits at the sides of the 2nd deck. Also it has 1 emergency exit at the rear of the 2nd deck too.
Volvo Olympian 3 Axle (2nd & 3rd batch) (9401-9600, 9601-9670) has an Alexander Royale bodywork. It has a DH10A engine and a ZF 4HP500 gearbox. Obviously, these 2 batches have different engine from the first batch. It does not have any emergency exits at the 2nd deck.
Dennis Trident (9671-9690) has Duple Metsec bodywork. It has Cummins M11 Engine. It has a Voith 863.3 gearbox.
Volvo Super Olympian (9800-9834, at the moment, 988has a Volgren bodywork. It has Volvo DH10A285 Engine and a Voith 863.3 Gearbox.
if there is any mistakes, pls correct me. Thank you.
133 for Scania buses , how does that sound ?Originally posted by SBS9816E:Captain, juz bear them for another year! However, Scania buses do run pretty fast. Enjoy them while they speed!
That's wonderful. Hahaha! For 135 too!Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:133 for Scania buses , how does that sound ?
Captain n off_service, AMK Depot does not have any Scania N113CRB. Therefore Svc 133 and 135 don't have them. Also, if Scania buses are plied on them, i bet that they will be underpower when climbing the slope on S'goon Ave 2.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:133 for Scania buses , how does that sound ?
Scania 113 of svc 29 can climb up a slope steeper than S'goon Ave 2.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Captain n off_service, AMK Depot does not have any Scania N113CRB. In the case of SBST, they just order the chassis and the engine from Volvo, and they purchase bodykits from bodywork companies like Duple Metsec, Volgren et al. The chassis and bodykits arrive in Singapore and are assembled in Hougang Depot.Originally posted by the Bear:how much does SBS and TIBS pay for their top-of-the-range bus?
