A couple of clarifications if I may.
The engine is a D 2066 LUH with 6 horizontal cylinders, 4-valves per cylinder, exhaust gas recirculation, twin-stage turbocharging, and common rail injection. Peak power is 235kW (320 PS) @ 1900rpm and peak torque is 1600Nm @ 1000-1400rpm.
The gearbox would be the ZF-Ecolife 6 AP 1700B that has a maximum input torque of 1700Nm.
So theoretically speaking, it's a flat 6?

Yes!
More photos of the MAN demonstrator

Hope SMRT consider getting more MAN, since SBST already purchase 300 MB Citaros. Great to see SMRT bringing in all these cool buses.
Cheers.

That will depend what they put up in the tender then. :D
If they provide a deal which SMRT cannot reject, then most probably we'll see MANs on the road very soon.

You can wait till 2014/2015 when Merczs eventually retire.

Anyway, what about 137A? What make is that?

If newer buses were to come in, might get to see Mercs going out earlier. :)
Cheers.

I think its due to the design that the seats have to be facing the opposite? Being that the wheel hub is too high for our legs I think....

Seems not possible, as seats would be situated higher if to face front. Part of low floor to the rear design. Citaro also same arrangement.
Cheers.

If they decide to buy the citaros first, some UDs might get laid. The man can come in later since SMRT decides to give trial for this bus.

2014-2015 not that fast most probably in the next couple of years.

Haha yes, saw the photo of it doing 961.
Anyway, what does the designation NL320 mean? I always thought the last digit at the back refers to its generation, eg SL252 means gen 2, 250 HP.

Then u will have a seat like those u can find on the UDs.

NL320 series.
NL323F would be the actual model. 3rd gen 320HP low floor.
Just saw this bus at wldep. there are some people that looks like SMRT senior, wearing white shirt, and seems to be inspecting the bus. there are also technicians that seems to be repairing the front of the bus.
SMB138Y is on 961 as usual.
