Comparing the power and torque produced, it's even more stronger than the CDGE B9TLs and Wright B9TLs... It's also stronger than K310UD, aka 7888K.
For a public bus, it's the strongest....

On 961 today, saw it at Bt Timah Rd @ around 1745hrs..
Cheers.
Going to try and catch this bus again today.
I spotted this bus off-service today running along Dunearn Road, in the direction towards the city. Guess it may be running to Geylang to do peak-hour duties.
Anyone has the latest updates on the deployment patterns of this bus?
boarded 961 1445-1450hrs Lor 1 Geylang to WRI today.
tis one can chiong.
but so powerful for wat? consume more fuel to chiong and create more tighter bus schedule?

More power =/= higher consumption of fuel

More like more power not always = higher consumption of fuel.
Efficiency levels have a limit, both practically and economically.

That is a better and more detailed explaination, was just giving a general statement. cheers![]()

320hp is a little high-powered.
I don't forsee this bus going beyond trial period...by virtue also of the fact that MAN has never really been a choice of both incumbent operators.
SBST's MAN is a good example. Never even really got a chance at higher-exposure svcs.

Well, i understand your point, but however, more power does not necessary mean u have to make total use of it. There issnt 320hp instantly when u lightly tap on the acclerator, but instead it depends on how hard u floor the accelerator or rather how much the bc wants. He/she will probably never have to use the kickdown since theres so much power available.
I do agree however that the bus is high-powered, but then again, since the bus is a demonstrator, MAN can make use of the data available to see how much power that routes smrtb operates demands and then subsequently offer more suitable engines.
Do note that, an interesting fact is the MANs OMV is much cheaper than the OCs, Citaro, and Yutong. Im not sure if this is due to the fact that it is a demonstrator, otherwise the price may attract smrtb to procure such vehicles due to the appealing price.
Malaysia got its MiG-29s at a really good 'bargain price' and only 1 decade + later and so many crashes, decided it wanted out after all.
Just another case of "its just too cheap too ignore" and "screw future costs".
And the MiG-29 is a really fine fighter. It still is, in its role as a point-defence fighter.
But sometimes, OMV is not the only factor.
Folks,
In any event you want to have a joy ride, it will reach Raffles Hotel around 0705hrs daily[subject to changes] twds Lorong 1 Geylang.
ACx

when I rode it just before Christmas, the SL was happily using the kickdown function to overtake other vehicles or speed past traffic lights. just that i believe he would not need to put too much pedal to the metal to get the bus moving.
i believe that MAN might offer a more suitable offering to SMRT such as the NL283F if the NL323F is too powerful for SMRT's requirements. but then again, the OC500LE comes with a 299bhp OM457hLA engine.. so SMRT might find the NL323F suited for their needs.
Seriously even 230hp is enough for a citybus if not restricted to that 60kp/h..Then again MAN NL273F or 313F is more than suitable unless if bendy
I think someone should get the duty number and the timetable that has been assigned to this bus, so that anyone trying to catch this bus will have an easier time.
Snicker and Acx1688, did you manage to get a glimpse of the timetable the bus driver uses?

You do realise that such a peek is more of a privilege and a bonus....?

Train more SLs in order to do other slots besides S2. Or even other services.
