Currently, there is 99 providing direct bus connection from Yunnan (Nanyang and Gek Poh) to the Bon Lay and Hong Kah subzones and 185 to the Wenya and Hong Kah Sub-zones of Jurong West. From the Hong Kah area, there is 99 to Boon Lay and the Extension area and 185 to Wenya and Yunnan (Nanyang and Gek Poh) – Yunnan (Nanyang and Gek Poh), Boon Lay and Hong Kah are well inter-connected by direct bus.
Wenya has weak direct bus connection to Boon Lay subzone: there are bus routes to Boon Lay but only to the Western end of Boon Lay. There is totally no direct bus connection to Taman Jurong from Yunnan (Nanyang and Gek Poh) and Wenya. Whereas for the bus connection to the Gek Poh and Jurong Point areas, 181 has already been proposed to be re-routed to loop around Jurong West Avenue 3, Jurong West Street 22, Jurong West Street 23, Jurong West Avenue 2, Wenya Avenue, Wenya Drive and Jalan Bahar, when the Wenya Industrial Estate is developed.
As such, I would propose a new bus route primarily providing connections from Wenya to Taman Jurong and from Yunnan (Nanyang and Gek Poh) to Taman Jurong.
This bus route to Taman Jurong can also be extended to the upcomg Tukang industrial area after going through Taman Jurong.
Total distance = 24.4km
I’m not sure if 24.4km is too long for a Trunk route. Meanwhile, bus route 99 is 25.7km long and bus route 98 is 26.4km long.
Nonetheless, although it is a long route, it does provide many bus connections that are currently not available, providing bus connections to 3 Industrial estates, Neighbourhood centres and many schools where there are currently no bus connection to them from various parts of Jurong West, etcetera. In addition, it would also complement 99 and 185 to a small extent. Generally, it would improve the inter-subzone connectivity within the Jurong West Planning Area.
This route I suggest may not be the perfect route yet but I believe if we go along this line, we should be able to formulate a bus route that is the perfect version of this suggested route.

- Joo Koon Bus Interchange (providing direct bus connection to the Joo Koon Industrial area from the Jurong West Extension area)
- Benoi Road
- Upper Jurong Road
- Jurong West Street 93 (providing bus connection to Nanyang Neighbourhood Centre from the blk986-990 estate)
- Jurong West Street 92
- Jurong West Street 91
- Pioneer Road North
- Jurong West Avenue 5
- Jurong West Street 81 (providing bus connection to the Nanyang Neighbourhood Centre from the Street 81 section of Nanyang Constituency, which is currently the only one without a bus link to the Nanyang Neighbourhood Centre.)
- Jurong West Street 82
- Jurong West Avenue 5
- Jurong West Avenue 3
- Jurong West Street 22
- Jurong West Street 23 (shortest option to go through Wenya yet still serve it sufficiently well)
- Corporation Road (Providing bus connection to Taman Jurong from Wenya and Yunnan [Nanyang and Gek Poh])
- Jalan Tukang (avoiding the jam at the section of Corporation Road from here onwards to the expressway)
- Tukang Innovation Grove
- Tukang Innovation
- Drive Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim (new industrial area. So might as well serve this industrial area and loop here, while also to avoid jam)
- Corporation Road (going in the opposite direction as the evening jam along that section along Corporation Road)
- Jurong West Avenue 2
- Jurong West Street 23
- Jurong West Street 22
- Jurong West Avenue 3
- Jurong West Avenue 5

I like the extension of 181 to Wenya, but it should come into effect once Wenya is developed.

I know, pretty pointless and weird service, but there's a whole stretch of road along Chin Bee Drive not served by buses that's not too long.

Actually the factories don’t need to be inter-connected with one another via Public bus, right? Even if want to collaborate, have partnership, share resources, joint project, etcetera. , I’m sure they have their own private vehicle to go to each other’s factory. I believe the Public buses’ role in Industrial areas is (solely) to ferry people to their workplace from nearby bus interchange(s) and if possible, from their homes. Otherwise, the other role is to ferry people to the amenities in the Industrial area, such as food court, retail outlets, etc.
Taking reference from the bus stop at Pioneer MRT Station, which can only accommodate 1 more bus service, it can be concluded that a normal bus stop is designed to accommodate up to 5 bus services. Including 98M, there are already 5 bus services running along Corporation Drive – full already. Meanwhile, Corporation Road and Yuan Ching Road have only 1 bus service running on the majority of them.
Maybe an alternative would be to re-route bus route 246 to go further into Chin Bee Drive, and ply along Third Chin Bee Road and Chin Bee Avenue, and then return to its original route at Quality Road. This would skip that 1 pair of bus stop at Quality Road but there is bus route 79 to make up the loss for residents at South Taman Jurong.
Actually, regarding Taman Jurong, I ever had a thought that perhaps bus route 240 should be split up as it might be a bit too long (15.4km: even longer than bus routes 243G and 243W combined) and does not really serve as a feeder service for Residents of Taman Jurong. There isn’t really a feeder bus service to Taman Jurong from Boon Lay Bus Interchange. The shortest/fastest bus connection to Boon Lay Bus Interchange available at Taman Jurong would perhaps be service 30, 154 and 178 – all of which use Boon Lay Way to go to Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
Incorporating a bit of your suggestion, I would propose a new Feeder bus route to Taman Jurong from Boon Lay Bus Interchange.
Total distance: 7.88km (7.9km) (1km shorter than Jurong East Feeder service 334[8.9km].)
Meanwhile, bus route 240 can be shortened and re-routed to serve only the Boon Lay sub-zone.
Total Distance: 4.06km
Since bus route 246 is almost identical to bus route 240, bus route 246 can easily be an alternative bus route to make up the loss of bus connection to/from Boon Lay subzone if bus route 240 is shortened and no longer serving Taman Jurong, by simply re-routing 246 to ply Kang Ching Road, instead of Tah Ching Road (This reminds me of the previous route of service 242, which duplicates most of service 99 in Jurong West Extension).

Those from Lor Ah Soo / HG Ave 1 who want to go to HG St 21 to shop, can still go with 113. To Kovan MRT, will have 112 both sides + additional link to Serangoon MRT if to go CCL.

I like - give the buses from 53A/53B to 53M with launch of 113 from Serangoon to Kovan via Lor Ah Soo.

So what's wrong with sv 60 - hugely successful route, no!?

I would say Sv 113's hougang demand mostly students and ppl who reside along hg ave 8 or ave 10. AM peak quite popular, i once saw fully seated 113 with standees from HG ave 8 to kovan MRT.
Also,There was 1 time i saw a long queue for Sv 113 at HCI and they sat all the way to lorong ah soo.
There are several schools in hougang, it would take so long to walk from hougang MRT to CHIJ primary/Punggol Pri sch.

Okay. Truce. We are back to the same old discussion.

You have to be joking. Maybe sv 74 and 147 were on strike that day.

Yup, because Sv 60 serves bedok reservoir road, with bus stops 200-300m apart from each other. Btw, any progress on Sv 228's dds? do you happen to know? do they get full ?

Hougang street 11 shud have another bus stop. The winding Curve to upper paya lebar is too long. Takes 10-15mins just to walk out 1 bus stop to upper paya lebar

You know the population there around Bedok Reservoir Rd. Need those stops for convenience.

Regarding 228, you seem to be misinformed. There are no DDs. Occassional cameos, that also have not been spotted recently.

Sv 228 had a DD debut long ago. DD trial failed? SGwiki dosent state it has a DD perm
Originally posted by SBS5011L:Sv 228 had a DD debut long ago. DD trial failed? SGwiki dosent state it has a DD perm
Because it never had DD perm. Only had cameo. So it is not like trial failed - no reason for trial to fail. The loading does not justify DDs. If you live around Bedok Reservoir Road (where sv 60 plies), you will obviously take sv 60 to Bedok MRT. From the upper leg of Bedok Reservoir Road, you have also option of taking sv 66 which has an equally good frequency. So there is no need.
228 during peak may take 60-65 pax but that is the max - won't cross that.
