They have to clear out the 94' batch which is 425R to 441T first in 2013 (provided with extension)
442R and the rest can wait.

Won't be going out that fast lah, most likely halfway through the extension then we might see lay-ups.

139,140,141 and 142 are at WLDEP, probably for equipment installation phase.
SMB141L? I saw it at C&C this afternoon around 1.30PM.

For reference,
Also, some interesting things about this is that it quotes smrt saying a saving of about $16.5k each. Might that mean that all 119 vehicles are of the same make/model?
And the image,

Don't trust the newspaper/news sometime. They ought to gave false alarm info sometimes...

$16.5k dun think is realistic
1 SD cost $350,000... ARF savings is $17.5k alrdy

OMV for SMB139/140 is $282,480.00..... dunno why it cost cheaper than OC500 and KUB

Looks like the production Citaros are using the same engine as 136C.

Yay! That's me! lol......
SMB147X had shifted parking lot to beside SMB141L at C&C. Suspect SMB144D might have gone to WLDEP.
What does it mean by this, OmniBus (SMRT - ARF-exempted)??

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that many of you fail to factor in LOGISTICS and WHOLE-OF-LIFE COSTS when taking into consideration the types of buses that operators purchase.
Let me start with the former. SMRT already operates a large fleet of Mercedes-Benz buses. This means that their engineers and mechanics already have experience working on this make of bus and that potentially they have a stockpile of spare parts that can be interchanged between the O 405-series and the OC 500 / O 530-series of buses or chassis. Introducing a new make of bus into the fleet will require retooling, retraining, and stocking a unique set of spare parts. It would be economically more feasible for the operator therefore to continue to buy from the same manufacturer provided that the latest offerings meet their requirements.
Secondly, the overall cost of a vehicle to operate revolves around more than just the initial cost of the chassis and the bodywork. Operators need to factor in such details as fuel consumption, spare parts costs, servicing requirements (and associated downtime) as well as the projected longevity major components (e.g. drivetrain). Chassis 'A' may cost more to purchase initially, but if it uses 10L less diesel per 100km compared to Chassis 'B' (which costs, say, 10% less to purchase initially) in the same operating conditions, has longer service intervals and a guaranteed powertrain lifespan of 10 years compared to 8 years for Chassis 'B', you'll find that the overall whole-of-life cost associated with the operation of Chassis 'A' will be lower.
In Australia, it is widely accepted that the Mercedes-Benz OC 500 LE has extremely good fuel consumption figures compared to the competition (easily averaging below 40L/100km on urban duties). The performance and reliability of the powertrain and transmission are also second-to-none. I can personally understand why SMRT have chosen Mercedes-Benz over its rivals.
How do you explain Transperth signing a fresh contract with Volvo instead of renewing the one with Mercedes?
If SMRT wants more bendies they might try getting the KUAs. Then we'd have all three variants of the Scania KUB in service.

Do you know that if the KUBs are worse, KUA will be worst

The Public Transport Authority weren't happy (in fact are rather furious) with the way that Mercedes-Benz Australia (and distributor Diesel Motors) handled the bus fires. Additionally there have been countless other 'afersales' issues. In general, Volvo and Scania provide better aftersales support for their products in Australia than the two German manufacturers do.
Here's a paper model done up using paint.
SMB141L
OT :
I had also done up SBS Transit Citaro, 3 versions of it. See which of your prefer...
SBS5253E (1st Version)
SBS5253E (2nd Version - Lower livery at rear)
SBS5253E (3rd Version - Rear EDS placed on the usual left)

Wah, I like these. Most likely SBST will use the 3rd version.
Can't wait for SBST Citaros to be out!!!
