149R's model is still to be confirmed.

Oh okay. Thanks.

It is still not confirmed. It could be a model that replaces the Scania L113CRL Striders or DAF SB220LT.

But they are just refurbished recently. SMRT wouldn't want to deregister them recently after wasting a bomb of money refurbishing them.

All further refurbished buses will not have their lifespans extended.

OMG. Then SMRT have wasted their money refurbishing the buses... :(

It could be, but i think you missed out the de-registering Mercedes-Benz O405s for the OACs and the refurbished UDs..

Oh ya, I think it should be replacing the de-registering of O405 OACs. Esp. when TIB425R and TIB426M are being deregistered by Sep. this yr... 3 more months to go for them...

TIB425R and TIB426M are going to be de-registered in 6 July 2011
Why wouldnt they want to extend their lifespan of 17 years to 19 years or 20 years for TIB 425R-TIB 561E?

We have to wait and see.

If they have enough buses to replace the buses, they won't be. Coz SMRT are trying to replace all the older buses to newer buses, higher Euro Standards and WAB.

That would be done at the mechanics decision, Not yours.

Oh okay.
Hi all,
It has come to my attention that at least some of the production Citaros for SMRT Buses have the new ZF-EcoLife 6-speed automatic transmission (model 6 AP 1200 B).
For passengers, this new transmission can be differentiated from the previous ZF-Ecomat transmissions by the completely different gearchange and retarder noises, lower upshift RPMs as well as different gear selection buttons on the driver's dash (blue and black instead of red and white).
I'm surprised that nobody has pointed this out already!
Perth recently received Australia's first Mercedes-Benz OC 500 LE with the ZF-EcoLife transmission (model 6 AP 1400 B). A recording of one of the units can be download HERE.

SMB148T has Voith DIWA 854.5, so SMB148T is out from the list of SMRT Citaros with ZF EcoLife.

Interesting. I wonder why the sudden change?

SMB148T was used as a mock up unit by SBS Transit for their Citaros. SBST Citaros were fitted with a Voith gearbox too.

I see. It still doesn't make sense from an operational / maintenance point of view though to have one unit out of a larger number fitted with a different gearbox. It does provide enthusiasts with more variety though - that I do like!

I suspect that all of the production SMRT Citaros except SMB148T have ZF EcoLife.

So, what you mean that SMB148T counterparts are the same as the other SMRT Citaros except for the gearbox?

Yup. And a few minor exterior differences.
