Maybe they only just buy 10 units.
The press release by them give me the impression they bought only 10 citaros

those SMRT fans still think SMRT have bought 66 no matter..... i would think SMRT will simply extend the lifespan of their buses instead... they just bought 10 to show only... SMRT is just letting the OCs running around instead of deploying on WAB services or introducing more WAB services.

Let's just wait and see if there are more units coming in? =) It's too early to keep speculating whether if it is 10 or 66, unless someone wanna ask SMRT to clarify? ^^

press release said 10 which implies only 10 were ordered. if 66 were ordered, it would have been explicitly mentioned right?

True. There is a confusion on the quantity of Citaros that were supposedly ordered/delievered.

All will extend since all existing rigids had undergone MUP (except some unrefurbed Scania striders which will get their refurbishment soon)

Oh, regarding MUP, TIB638T got hers yesterday. Left TIB651D and TIB663U.
Whether or not living up the 2 years extension still remains a question mark though, Like what happened to the SBST mercz.

Not to forget some of the OC from AMDEP needs to be dropped over.

And LO3xs, MK3s. Some LO3xs only 3 to 4 months later deregistered whereas some MK3s only 1 year later deregistered. Whereas the rest just extend till full 19 years.

What about the SBST mercz, were some of them got laid prematurely in 2009?

Those refurbed one all extended to 2 years. But some of them went off early due to mass influx of KUBs.

There's nothing premature about that.
You would rather SBST take the sai ji ka chng approach?

Spotted SMB 146Z and SMB 141L at C&C today parked near to the gate. Regos were fitted on, and its shiny! No livery on yet.

Can sense a major redeployment coming though

That's what I think too. The 66 must be some untrue rumors then.
If they ordered 66 of them, SMRT would have said that they would buy 66 and introduce them progressively from March onwards with the first 10 coming. Just like what it was for the OC500LEs last time. But they only officially said 10 buses.
But why only 9 of them came??? Maybe the demostrator is included as well into the 10 buses, which means that the demostrator is confirmed keep for service.

Citaros will be on 858 - surely. Rest of Mercs go other WLDEP svcs.

I think will be more for Ang Mo Kio depot, since 853 will be WAB very soon.

Maybe there will be a major depot transfer and 853 will be WAB next month and there isn't enough WAB buses to cover the duties. These 9 Citaros come just in time to make it WAB. Probably some OCs will be transfered out to replace those services using the Nissan UDs, which will be scrapped by then. Deployments are based on the demands, not based on what you think it should be.
