SBS6008R on Sv138 (AM SP)... so did any citaro appear on other amdep service today?
Took SBS6000L on 28 2wks ago and yesterday and I think it was great. Bus feels more solid than KUBs and engine sound is great even though it is quiet. The design of the aircon ducts needs to be improved as I prefer to have an adjustable aircon duct.

SBS6009M (AMDEP SP) - seen at Selegie Road around 1.35pm towards Little India, full of BCs onboard and Chartered EDS was displayed

saw the same bus at 1.25pm at eu tong sen st towards city direction
maybe citaros on 166 soon?
Noticed that SBST ordered Citaros aft SMRT but, SMRT only delivered 10 units? While SBST is WAY>>>> far and all 39 units are registered..
Hmmm... Yeah, i know how you feel, TIB 1105H. Although SMRT pun on trial the very first unit of Citaro in SouthEast Asia and they ordered just a miserable 10, whereas SBS Transit ordered 300 units without even putting one unit on a trial basis. However, i suppose both companies got their reasons for doing so. Anyway, i believe SMRT will order more of the Citaros, but probably in smaller numbers rather than one big bulk purhcase like SBS Transit. It's been announced that SMRT Buses will be buying more than 100 buses by end of the year. So, we'll definitely get to see more Citaros by SMRT Buses and probably, maybe, more MAN buses as well.
But most of all i think the A/C should do abit better, w/o the AC duct i think they can make it that the air will blow out stronger from the holes huh?
I do agree with you on that point. Especially on the improvement of the air-con ducts. Mercedes Benz should allow some flexibility in this area. Cold air coming out of small holes isn't sufficient to cool the entire interior of the bus. I personally experienced this, as with many other commuters. When i sat at the front, i could feel the cold air. However, as i move towards the rear, it becomes like an oven. At least, the air-con must be able to adjust, for the convenience of commuters.

They got 10 BYDs recently which are friggin expensive instead.
Doesnt that give you a little insight in how SMRT does its purchase?
I'm not particularly too sure whether the BYD is a confirmed purchase or not. What i read is that the infrastructure must be ready for the electric buses before they can hit the roads. What i meant by infrastructure is the charging facility to operate and maintain the buses. Yes, i'm aware the buses are extremely expensive.
I shant speak like I own SMRT but I think commuters like me have been disappointed by SMRT's continued resistence against DDs.
Seriously what is wrong with having DDs?
Thankfully I live in SBST's domain.
I really can't say much about now, but, i can't say about the future either though. Well, we just have to wait and see.

I'm not defending smrt here, but looking at the way smrt buy vehicles, it seems to show they simply do not want to have fleet expansion. Their recent Annual Report also states the new vehicles for the upcoming 2 years are for fleet replacement and not expansion.
If they really wanted to maintain their fleet capacity, i guess the earliest that smrt might move to doubledecks will be when they replace their bendies?
DDs are the way to go, since we're having quite some population growth here and crush loading SD will just make the buses packed and more packed.

speaking of fleet expansion. i think they have already done their best to cramp buses into their depots as much as possible. if you want to continue on fleet expansion, they might need extra space to park their buses. where to park? along the roadside or @ Heavy Vehicle Parks?

Was living in SBST's domain since young at nanyang estate area, moved to smrt's domain 7 yrs ago and super sian. Luckily, I will move back to SBST's domain at punggol. The only SMRT bus svc I used for the past 7 years is 190.

Yes, they have recently done a fleet expansion finally after 6years with the OC500LEs, but it was really long due.
As for their depots, their AMK facility is nearing its land lease lifespan soon. If they are really serious about public transportation with buses, an option would be to aquire a nearby land parcle and start building a state-of-the-art facility that's DD capable, and of multiple stories as what KMB has done recently in HK. It takes time and planning, but if they really just want to concentrate on their trains, then there's nothing we can do too.
Dont forget fleet expansion also has been called for by LTA too. Worse come to worse, alternative parking can also be done at train depots, at least its better than holding back fleet expansion and letting buses to be packed right?
