For folks who don't have memories of the MKIII when it was new-new and with the original interior....they won't appreciate the kind of kind of standard the arrival of the 0405s and the MKIIIs set. It was also the time of the Superbus era...SBST was undergoing radical transformation in the early 1990s.
I have very good memories of the MKIII and its just a little creaky now but still as steady in acceleration like day 1.

yes but its not the one you quoted. Note the timing and not the location.Originally posted by SMB66X:16x48 gt 1 Citaro also.
bad memories for me when the mk3s were new... now not so bad cos they refurb the aircon ducts. that cloth like material when it was new stinks the bus over time. and the rear is not high seating as compared to O405s.Originally posted by SBS2601D:

None of the MKIIIs were written off early...considering that there were 300 of them, its quite a feat...and in a sense, very good investment for SBS back then. Despite all the langa and all, they were always returned to service after repairs. And the MKIIIs didn't break-down as often. Testimony to the reliability and ruggedness of the MKIII...especially if you consider its also the same type that goes with the least rest amongst the JB-registered ones.
Maybe slow and steady beats the lot.
Oh the cloth material stank after a while, but I liked the black eyeball AC ducts...and the blue seats. And memories of somethings like that, that felt like it was only yesterday, are nice to hold.
There used to be a bunch of MKIIIs in AMDEP/BRAM as well....so in a sense, if someone told me a MKIII appeared on 72 or 88, I wouldn't consider it interesting at all.

If I remember correctly, service 72 used to be majority HGDEP controlled. 637P and 638L were among the perms then. Not sure if service 88 was ever under partial BNDEP controlled before or not.
AMDEP/BRBP ever had MK3s somewhere between 1998-99. Services 142, 145, 152 (now 28) and 155 ever had MK3s running. Feeder 410 also used MK3s for a start when converted PAC in 1999.

Yeah man well said. Some ppl very irritating sia everytime keep nagging and complaining abt the MK3s like some grandfather. They r just too stupid to realise the good things abt this great workhorses. =.=
I saw a sbst Citaro parking at Boon Lay Int tdy. Then it came out, went one round ard the Int and dissappeared.
And i saw 6057Z,6072D,6062,6058 with MANY others at pandan C&C yest and tdy. Some of the Citaros r even parking at the 2nd floor.

and someone alerted me earlier this evening - looks like zero mk3 were burnt in the past 18 years of service. the next 2 models that are close are the DM3500 and the VO (all aircon batches), followed by VSO then B9 CDGE (7440 and 9888 were just unlucky, the fire started from an LO). As for the 1998 amdep fire i dont think the fire originated from 456 or 563, probably the LO2x or 9013. So in a sense the O405s had the best record amongst retired buses. N113 the worst.
I remember 563 was SLBP bus. Did it burnt down too?
cant be too sure about that. i remembered the 1998 amdep fire had 4-5 casulties.Originally posted by fireice rox:I remember 563 was SLBP bus. Did it burnt down too?

Nice! :D
Wow, Citaros on 16.
How many are there now on the service??? I wanna catch!![]()
I think Volvo B10M MKIIIs are really realiable bus. I really cannot forget their clothed air con duct and blue PVC seats, not to forget they have thermometers inside for the air con when new. So cool back then... ![]()
