so it will be 1100KUBs, 300 Citaros + ??? , 450 Wrights, 200 B9, 470 VO3x...
SBST should have just lay up and dereg the MK3s at an earlier date if that's the case, just like what they did to the 0405s when the K230UBs were registered.

The MKIII has a clean slate to boast of.
MKIII ain't fast (usually), ain't handsome...but it certainly did its job remarkably well, as a true blue workhorse. The closest I can think of are the SBST 0405s, but for some strange reason, people are willing to overlook this fact and lampoon the MKIIIs and laud the 0405s...which doesnt do the MKIII justice at all. After all, they arrived around the same time, and gave SBS a modern fleet with the N113s and the Superbuses and the other B10Ms. So at the least we should appreciate this fact.
Oh. And I like the fact that its impossible to remove the seats on the B10Ms, never mind the crappy legroom.

very much agree on this. the MKIIIs are very good workhorses. after about 18 to 19 years in operation, not a single one retired earlier than lifespan expiry. no known fire incidents happened on the MKIIIs as well. they might be slow, but they are just so rugged. sometimes i'd rather a MKIII over an O405...

Agree too. I really hope that MK3 lifespans can be further extended.
Originally posted by Vincent Lee:I thought the citaros are for replacing the mk3 but amdep don,t have any mk3 yet still keep taking in more citaros instead for hgdep / bbdep/bndep !
it is not as simple as 1 to 1 replacement.. if that is the case, then the KUB should be 1 to 1 replacement for MK2, N113 and O405 right? HGDEP have only 93 MK 2 in 2006. but it took in 132 KUB since 2007... so why HGDEP is taking in more KUBs ? AMDEP took in some citaros because there isnt enough SDs to replace the O405 because of fleet addition issue... SBST have been adding buses and trips over the past few years.. definitely need more buses....
looking at AMDEP, it have more than 28 N113, 11 MK2, 504 O405 in 2006, total 543 buses to be replace. it took in 517 KUBs.. so technically, it is still shortly of SDs buses.. (it have 44 MK 4 in 2006 as compare to 40 MK4 now)....
further, there are only 274 MK3 left..more than 20 were retired much early.. SBST order 300 Citaros.... definitely there are some excess for AMDEP/SLBP as well.

they have to laid up/dereg some of the O405 early due to space issue and to meet the WAB quota issue.... when more Citaros arrived in Sin , SBST will definitely laid up some of the MK3 early.... right now, even the Wrights are been parked/idling in depots as well after registered....
Can you just be patient....?
Originally posted by Vincent Lee:In that way AMDEP must well take in all the 300 citaro and transfer the kubs to other deps to replace the mk3 !
yes.. AMDEP should do so... transfer all the KUBs out... just like in the 90s, when HGDEP take in brand new O405 first, then take in brand new MK3/MK4 and transfer all the O405 out to AMDEP/JRBP/SLBP....
A bus is a bus.. why so concern about what buses they used, as long as the buses can take you to destination safely...
Will low-floor buses be able to match the huge fuel tanks of the B10Ms?
