6032U on 502 today..

well u can compare SMRT Citaros with their OC500LEs... Improper maintenance and rough driving has taken their toll on these Citaros (cough SMB142J cough)
Some funny things I saw on SBST Citaros..
SBS6047C the front interior panel like not aligned like that... The trapezium there looks funny there...
SBS6065A front part AC leaking like mad... wtf...

Poor buses, the Germans never intended for them to be worked that hard. I sort of like the strange sparking sounds the SBST Citaros make. And I just realised the SBST Citaros seem to have extremely high ground clearance, higher than the SMRT counterparts. And the suspension is extremely soft too and comfy. It rolls too much when cornering though; seems like the only single decker that feels like there's a possibility of a roll over when taking sharp highway exits at 60km/h (like 53 exiting from TPE to KPE).

yeah Rizal said that abt SBST Citaros having higher ground clearance than their SMRT cousins... perhaps thats why SMB142J bottomed out on a speed bump near BPJ... that was a really ouch experience for me...
But I wonder why, or is it just me, that ever since the intro of Citaros on 53, the big hump leading out of CGA Terminal 2 basement seemed to have gotten itself a few more scratch marks...
I apologize for my ignorance, but who's Rizal? And poor SMB142J. That's what happens when you drive too fast over a hump. Once saw sparks from a KUB on 34 hitting the ground at a traffic junction that happened to be quite bulgy. The scratch marks shouldn't be from the Citaros since they have much higher ground clearance. Maybe it's the SMRT OCs.
And another thing, I seem to notice that the newer buses including the KUBs, Wrights and Citaros all seem to have some kind of "ski-looking" things at the four corners of their bodies. Is it to prevent bodywork damage in the event of hitting the ground at high speeds due to bumps?
SBS6005Z got into accident few weeks back. MIA for around 3 weeks. yesterday back in service, with a slightly different purple tone left front bumper.. yesterday still spotted that bumper in grey tone, but afternoon Amdep already spray paint and deploy on Sv125...
6055 and 6062 are parking beside 6014 at AMDEP's layup corner... 6014 now have canvas cover it front part/side...

Well, 148T seems in ok condition. Where as 142J should be the chiongster citaro among 139U - 147X..

Yes, the 4 "legs" below are to preven the base from direct scratch when it bumps to the road and it can help prevent any cracks to any pipes connecting the bus.
I took the Citaro for the first time, nice bus. I like its suspension, lack of vibration and its very quiet and smooth.
BUT
Its aircon sucks big time.
Which puts it on one of my I-think-I'll-pass lists...along with the Dennis Trident and some LO3X. Gimme the KUB, MKIII/IV, VO3X and VSO anytime.
Ironically, after that, I took 9214S on 161 and its also on that list now because of its 15 degrees aircon.![]()
Looking forward to the Citaro aircon being modified.
The interior was like an oven.

The clearance of the Citaro can be set. +/- 70mm by turning a knob on the driver's area. As far as i know, the switch is on the floor.

Come on guys, the aircon isn't that bad. It's not strong, but it's adequate.

Took citaro for the first time today, the aircon is really weak. its so warm inside. i thought they said our citaros are equipped with powerful air-conditioners due to our humid climate? are they bluffing us?!

To me the aircon is really lousy to the max. I sweat a lot. I will definitely avoid taking the citaro unless the improved the aircon system.
For folks like me who have to takan 3 hrs of bus rides every weekday, I can tell you the Citaro is definitely not on the top of my list. Far from it in fact.
Considering that I post that one on a wet day, with temperatures outside hovering around 28 degrees, and I still can tell you that its hot inside, something is very wrong!
The aircon is very weak. You have to be delusional to tell me that the bus is comfortable unless you are a honey bee which can tolerate temperatures in excess of 38 degrees.
Adequete?
I suppose I can't generalise from a single ride, but there's too many complaints about the aircon to ignore.
Need me to do hypothesis testing to tell you if the complaints are statistically significant?
If so, Charles, what would you have to say?![]()

Totally agree, all these whining are getting some of us on the nerves. Besides, I am glad we have our Wright, Citaro and now the MAN buses to make bus life in SG more interesting for all of us.Lastly, its much easier for me to avoid a particular lousy piece of scrap metal. :)
Your standards are high.
If so, you should be in a helicpoter instead of whining about our whines.
I'm sorry that all 300 of the lousy pieces of scrap metal survived the 17 years.

true that the aircon is weak.
i boarded twice on services 53 & 28 in the afternoon.
both times, every passenger was trying to talk less, breathe less so that they can feel cool. ![]()
now imagine being onboard a Citaro with a busload of bus fans. with all the shouting/talking & running up & down the aisle, we'll all be hot!!! ![]()
I've taken countless Citaro rides and have never felt hot or sweated once. I took some rides when the bus was packed and some when it was empty and the aircon was adequate for both cases. Maybe I was lucky then considering that everyone is complaining about its weakness. Anyway, the Wrights are stuffy and hot too when the aircon is off when stopping at traffic junctions.
I've taken a few of the newer Citaros (608x to 609x) and the air con is rather weak, though I do not perspire. The air con sounds like it's working quite hard (loud fan-like sound), but not much cool air comes out!
10 citaros under HGDEP so far... right, so it has a signal that the MKIIIs are laying-up soon and the citaros around! good! things are getting better!!!!
