For me, I would really like Express Services, especially you have to rush from Point A to Point B in the shortrest time. Although you have to pay a bit more, I think it's worth to take the bus.
From my house to Orchard, I can take Express 502, which is only a 15 - 20 mins journey! That's really fast, faster than taking Service 106 with a total journey of 40 mins.
Express 511 is fast too!n From Park Mall to Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, the total time taken is only 15 mins!
Yeah I agree with you. Services 23 is not that fast either, once I tried it and the VO went like a snail.... NOt sure 'bout the others though. 161, 168, 858 are really time- savers, along with 965 and 969, but I will object if they are converted to express services cos I have to pay so much more as I take them frequently. I don't think 960 is really that express, if you consider the route from Woodlands. I do think that it's a waste of 989 to go Airport. You see, most commuters take the svc to travel within CCK/Bt Batok, or the most till Jln Toa Payoh. Yes, I agree. It is essentially a limited stop bus service. And even if it ran on the expressways, because it is GOVERNED, it doesn't feel like an express....it still takes you a long time to get into the CBD. They should change the structure of the express services, making them limited stops from Sengkang to.......say, Hougang....then first SET DOWN stop (ie, no boarding from this stop onward) Selegie Rd, and all stops to Orchard Rd/Moulmein Rd.Originally posted by SBS9818A:What if you are a Sengkang resident? I agree also. To me, any service that uses the expressways, is an "express service". 989, 969, 858, 190, 700, 168, and 30 (for it's part along the freeway). I have ridden all these services, and loved them. But since Tibs want to keep it this way, having svc 989 to be converted to Express service will only lead to an eventual "death" of the service. The load factor is already low enough, having it as express service will make commuters take other mode of transport like SMRT or some other bus services. In the end, the driver might be the only person going to Changi Airport.
