Wow, this is unexpected. But good to hear though, after I've taken it regularly on Sv 81 for years.
Any obvious difference to the exterior or interior of the bus? Still in gloss-stickered livery?
I think they might have thought that the bus was in a better condition than expected, if they saved the floorboard. It went MIA-ed 2 weeks before its last de-reg date + 2 weeks MIA after its last de-reg date = 4 weeks of hibernation. Should be long enough for a comprehensive fix for the floorboard.
Depending on whether 1969A is gone-case (and in turn replaced by a KUB or Citaro), I think 9573E might return to Sv 81. After all, there hasn't been any consistent replacements for its slot on Sv 81..
Update: speak of the devil, I'm onboard 9573E on Sv 81 now. Bus seems to be now in repainted livery, and quite obviously they fixed the lower deck floorboard hole I said it had last time, complete with a re-carpetting of lower deck.
They didn't touch much of upper deck, probably except for a scrub of the a/c ducts and ceilings.
Shall see if 9573E returns to 81 for good in the coming days. Cheers.

It never went spare. It just waited inside HGDEP for a new radiator. Don't assume that it is no longer perm if you don't see it elsewhere and many other random buses are covering it.

Exactly... Sometimes you will see random buses replacing perm buses going for maintenance like the SBS6325A being temporarily replaced by SBS6197C on 116 case you mentioned...

SBS9590E (BBDEP 7) spotted on perm service with repainted body like SBS9580J...

I suppose the remaining 4 Batch 2 Volvo Olympians will be repainted in January...
There may be a temporary hiatus before the thread may continue on, and I feel that SBS Transit has done a good choice into extending the remaining 24 Batch 1s till end of 20 years' lifespan...hope that they utilise it well on the SLBP services.

Well, at least JIS will be using them (B1s) and the newer Batch 2s for the next few years... It's great that HGDEP still has some of the Batch 1s running loyally on their perm services. It will be great history when these buses are done after serving these services loyally for such a long time and end up being replaced suddenly... Tbh, I took SBS9382P a few times on 51 and it's still in good running order, with very loud ZF howls which is rare on VO3Xs these days. ![]()
SBS9591C repainted rims. BBDEP did a pretty bad job in repainting though.

Yeah, SBS9590E's body is shiny, but its rims are dirty...

Maybe BBDEP didn't bother to use as much glitter as HGDEP? ![]()

Well, I guess it depends... I do see some BBDEP buses getting nice repaint jobs on the road, but mostly the Batch 2 HGDEP VO3Xs and some Striders are shining real nice. Only problem is that some of the buses have their repainted livery fading, which results in light purple or peeling orange. ![]()
