No. These 20-year-old Volvo Olympians are being scrapped at Kiat Lee in Kranji, not at Defu (which won't make any sense if they are sent to HGDEP for lay up).
Apparently, the Volvo Olympian 3-Axle (Batch 1) were said to have been retired as of 16 June 2015. All Volvo Olympian 3-Axle (Batch 1) will be scrapped at Kiat Lee in Kranji.
They stay behind for 1 more year or 6 more months to allow the replacement of Volvo Olympian 2-Axles.
Info from BIS most trusted page on Singapore Buses for 23 buses:
SBS9413J at BNDEP corner. Likely for maintenance but it was once MIA also so
Placeholder post to revive this thread before expiry...anyway, there are 3 months left to the next deregistration wave; does anyone suppose that the Batch 2s will receive another round of extensions for 6 months?

Doubt it for the older units... Look at how many spare VOs there are now. I believe there would be enough Wrights to replace the Batch 2s when Jan 2016 comes and the first units deregister. May be different case for later units (955x to 959x series) though...
is sbst still own buses ? or just an operator? i thought that LTA is buying over all the buses from both operators?

In the first place, the Batch 2 Olympians were extended to two years because ppl thought there are not enough buses, unless it is 9597-9600 (4 buses), where it was not extended because there are enough buses to cover them.
There will be enough Wrights to replace Batch 2s soon. Maybe different case for Batch 3s, as Batch 3 do not raise the issues.
Has any of the Batch 2 Volvo Olympians been taken off from service especially from BNDEP? Today I bypassed BNDEP and somehow saw a Batch 2 Olympian with the lower front covered in white cloth...

Did you mean SBS2750G?

Edited...it is SBS2752B.
Now, there is a big question mark: What will be the replacements for SBS9419T, SBS9426Y and SBS9428S? HGDEP has just enough spare Wrights for maintenance replacement. My guess is that the replacement will be the spare Dennis Tridents. There are not enough Wrights, and it makes no sense to use the spare VO3Xs (as almost all HGDEP VO3Xs will be de-registered this year), and a capacity downgrade will only result in complaints.

No more new DD leh for SBST. All balance transfer to LTA mah. So should be using old buses.
Hopefully LTA consider Scania N340UD

i think other depots also have enough DDs for their own VO3 replacement only based on the current Spare buses status.
dun think there will be excess buses after TT start service.. all the current BSEP buses on the TT routes will be transferred over (TT will use 50 new buses plus 300 current BSEP buses).. so no excess buses left for SBST/SMRT...
guess go-ahead should be using majority new buses (from the balance BSEP order and the recently transferred order of 300 plus new buses)... once go ahead start, then there will be excess buses....
Go-ahead need 400 buses at least....
So SBS 23K the last rego DDs from SBST ?
