Currently there are only 2 low floor models in Singapore being purchased, Mercedes Benz Citaro and MAN A22. Since SBST has already engage Mercedes Benz for new Citaros, it is logical for them to get more Citaros in future. And Citaros are better than A22 because A22 has a crooked rear narrow aisle, which is even worse than the Citaro. Volvo B9TL full low floor configuration is the best of the 3 but is a double decker chassis.
As for SMRT double deckers, it is still best for them to use double deckers.
As mentioned by someone, feeder services will have more stringent frequencies after the new QC requirements. More buses on a feeder service means better frequncies which means number of passengers in a bus will be lesser. Thus it is useless to use bendies if they are not fully utilised all the time, which in turn waste more fuel and road space, and increase operating costs. And double deckers are more suitable for space tight city roads and using bendies on city routes like 190 are definately hogging other buses schedules instead.
For both.
The decision is made by SBST. Send an email to them to see whether they will want to continue purchasing Citaros instead of posting here.
I still got to disagree with you about SMRT buying DDs. So if let's say an SMRT service has DDs, for a period of time, the people will say 'Wow! That's a new SMRT bus!", but they only sat/stand in the lower deck (like service 95), which might led to problems
Also there are a few advantages of bendies over DDs. Most people like to stand in the bus nowdays, even with DDs, they have lesser standing space for standing, unlike bendies, there's a standing space at the middle of the bus which helps the bus turn. Some DDs may have higher capacity than bendies, but some do not. So what's the heck to buy DDs if a company do not want to buy it at all? Wouldn't that be a wastage of space, money and manpower?

Under our road and bus infrastructure capabilities and constraints here, if the company refuse to get something more practical, then the company is making the wrong decision which lead to more problems in future. Means no foresight.
Double deckers or bendies, if people do not even want to move in or move up, then why people love to complain not enough space in the first place??? Because Singaporeans are damn lazy to move up or move in, unlike people in Hong Kong.
SMRT have to consider what will happen to the space in bus interchanges and road space 5 to 10 years down the road. It is more practical to get 12m buses like double deckers for the future.
We are not in the era of the 1990s where our population is only 3 to 3.5 million anymore.
I think SMRT Buses knows these issues stated. But the issue actually is, how frequently does it occur vs the benefits of the bendy bus? Take an example, the third door of the bendy opens on a regular 12m bus stop in the rainy days. Their drivers on the ground can answer those questions and doubts raised here.

This, i fully agree. The sbst k230ub has way too much gear changes creating a very unpleasant ride. Maybe sbst should attempt to invest some money to trial a taller final drive ratio (and thus limiting the gears 4 or 5) and see if it gets better, since the torque is ok for the terrain here.

I don't see any point about nobody would move in in a bendy. As what Bus Stopping has said in the 800 buses thread, the different usage of buses depend on the fare system. DDs were a problem as people will not stay in the upper deck when they were only taking it to save time and strength that will be wasted by walking (They only take the bus for a few stops and get off). This is an exception to bendies.
For Hong Kong, they are not using distance-based fare systems. You might see, some services you take you have to pay expensive and fix fare, but that's because it crosses a harbour, and that's why it warrant the use of DDs.

It is the mentality that counts. If one is lazy to move to give way to others, no matter what bus they give it's useless. ![]()
Seems that you don't take bendy services often. I came across many instances where all people like to stand in the front trailer, back trailer the most almost fully seated.

No. I used to take 964 many times in 2011. How are you going to give excuses that I don't know anything???

507M out?

TIB507M is still on service 965. Most likely the other should be out instead.

582U still on 965.

I say 'other' not 'others'. Could be the MAN itself out instead.
SMB248M
(KJDEP SP)
On Service 188 today. By the way, did I saw SMB235A on Svc 961 today? It was behind TIB528C this afternoon.
