I spotted SMB3033X and SMB3034T driven on Woodlands Ave 2 twds WLDEP. Spotted the bus at 3.50pm near RP. I saw something hanging back of the bus

Heh heh heh. I had expected these Batch 1 buses to be registered in February under BSEP.

For some buses, the voith whistling isn't as heard easily as others. SGWiki also claimed that they were using Voith DIWA 864.5 gearboxes. Maybe you need to compare the engine sounds of a ZF MAN and the 13xx series.

yup. sounds quite different. Earlier this afternoon when I spotted this bus entering tampines int with another batch 1 MAN, this bus have a much more prominent whistle (not Voith whistle) than the batch 1 MAN. No wonder ppl mistook it as a voith gearbox
