I don't think they clean the buses to such detail. For exterior, its just cleaned by the machines. And I don't think its purely due to poor insulation from the existing sliding windows. The aircon blowing down is already not as cool as the OAC models. And what's the point doing these things since the buses are scheduled to retire in just a couple of years? And it seems the aircon is nowadays slightly cooler than before.
The couple of years - 3 or so years is still quite a long time for a bus that does service almost daily ~ I've seen the windows having a lot of dust and dirt accumulated in the window corners and the tracks of the sliding window.
Maybe put it this way, they changed the windows to fully fixed windows which are tinted in an effort to reduce the amount of heat/sunlight into the bus so the aircon can be more efficient? Added advantage of being able to standardise window parts if needed with the OAC cousins.. Some of the sliding windows cannot be locked down fully and can be opened too. I took TIB728S 969 fully refurbished a few days ago, the airconditioning was also reworked and was quite cold, almost like the OACs.

It is up to them how they operate, We have no say at all, so why bother?

If you have taken TIB774H, you will notice the super dusty sliding windows and the window can get very hot to touch.
But, the thing is that the air con is SUPERR AWESOME.
But I am so freezing cold that I have to turn it to blow the windows ![]()
It got misty within seconds. Imagine that.
Today marks the 12th anniversary of Service 970. The original fleet consisted of buses such as TIB438D, TIB439B, TIB441T, TIB442R, TIB443M, TIB456B - TIB458X, TIB484U. I can't remember the other buses though..

They aren't really losing $$...
Buy in bucks(those spare parts) = MORE discount.
Every single bus can last up till 2 years. If 1 bus earns $100 a day, 365days = $36500 for 1 bus. If you minus off the day where it didn't appear on service, I believe the bus operators are infact not losing out any $$.

SMRTB made a big loss of S$5.2million, LRT S$330k while all other operations profit
