Amendment to SBS Transit services 26 and 107 from 4 May 2003

Services 26 and 107 will use Geylang Bahru, Bendeemer Road, Whompa East and Serangoon Road instead of Kallang Bahru. They will not call at bus stop outside Kallang Bahru Swimming Complex.

Announced a bit late, however I believe Kallang Bahru slip road to the PIE will be closed on that day(4 May), so now the drivers have to go down all the way to Whampoa EAst to make a turn.

The reason why that part of the road is closed permanently is to facilitate construction of interchange at junction of PIE & KPE.
Svc 26, 61, 107 & 853 are affected. -

Hmmm...I never knew KJE was extended all the way to Geylang Bahru. 
I think you meant KPE (Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway) but KPE intersected PIE a further down, nearer to Aljunied Flyover right?

Oops, I mean KPE. KPE intersect with PIE between Kallang Bahru/Kallang Way & Aljunied flyover. However, to build the entrance and exit slip roads. Kallang Way slip road is only one-way, ie from the PIE to Kanng Way. Before the PIE was constructed Kallang Way and Kallang Bahru joined each other and had junction at Jln Kolam Ayer.

Anyone knows what's going to happen to service 853? There's no notice at Yishun Interchange, or anything along that line. It is my guess that it will follow the diversion like other services, i.e. along Geylang Bahru. But anyone knows what's going to happen to 853 after the closure? 1186Z, perhaps TIBS Yishun has not put a notice up, obviously it would follow and passengers may get a shock when the bus does not go down Jln Kolam Ayer, not good IMO.
Perhaps they have signs in the bus about the route change. -

Yes, Tibs 853 has been amended to ply Geylang Bahru, Bendemeer Rd & Whampoa East, but I don't see any notices put up at bus stops and on Tibs website.
I was near the Woodsville flyover on 04 May, saw a half-packed Dennis svc 853 with a MB 0405 svc 107 behind it, and the svc 107 bus captain is the only person in the bus. -
I was onboard Tibs 989 going from the airport to Bt Batok yesterday (05 May), and I saw that the Kallang Bahru exit to PIE (Tuas) is not closed at all. That means, services 26, 61, 107 & 853 can continue to use the former route. Furthermore, there was no such announcement on LTA website.

I think they are just amending it in preparation for the impending road closure. Kallang Way slip road to PIE(Airport) has been closed for quite a while, since the PIE towards the airport side was moved more to the left.

LTA has announced that the Kallang Bahru slip road to PIE Tuas bound will be permanently closed with effect from Saturday 10 May 2003.

Tranquilice, that's why, the LTA needs time to inform road users about the change so they cannot do it immediately, only after a week or so after bus route diversions.

I don't quite agree. The reason why the 4 services are amended on Sun 04 May and not tomorrow 10 May is simple, that SBST and Tibs most of the time make service amendments, withdrawn services, introduce new services only on Sundays and not on any other days, except for very few cases.Originally posted by SBS9818A:Tranquilice, that's why, the LTA needs time to inform road users about the change so they cannot do it immediately, only after a week or so after bus route diversions.
