I know
But thing is, our speed limit is usually on a full number because of our speedometer layout isn't it?
Urban area got their speed limit which may be lower than 60, that's another issue.
Now with new modern engine it'd getting more complicated for the driver to tampered the buses to go faster.Urban of course if you speed at 60 you're asking for trouble.
Usually the speed trap is standard setting ie if I shot a bus speeding between 65-70 my radar only show 58-64kmh...I've ever been shot twice on both car and motorbike. They shot 88kmh when I was driving above 95kmh and 85kmh when I was riding 97kmh

Yes, Scania is better for me, especially Scania N113CRB
IMO, 60km/h is very slow. Hope they can increase to 70 or 80
Btw, i saw 6280 at C&C. Seems like the delivery of Citaros is almost complete
6280U at C&C highest rego u saw?

Originally posted by SBS 9631X:Plus like what 'sbst275' said, 60kmh is slow to you cause the SMRT O405s are going faster, and that's because they broke the system somehow by not sticking to the limit. If you want something faster, go take a cab or train. Buses aren't exactly the fastest solution to get from point-to-point nowadays anyway.
train?! nowadays is like the fast version of the bus - same speed without traffic lights only. then sometimes go as slow as a van like how a vehicle goes over a metal plated road cos there's road works underneath.
last time take train can really feel the fast-ness of it.
159 most neglected service to date. That service has NO new buses. I don't think got any cameos also.

That picture was actually stolen.

That happened when the citaros just got registered
When will all 300 citaros on Service? Registration is damn slow nia. ![]()

Those B10Ms on 159 are more comfortable than new buses

But I have seen on the dashboard KUB speeding at 65km/h before, Guess that it is limited around 65-70km/h rather than 60km/h.

Not sure about Citaros though, haven’t seen any BC who doesn’t use the brakes to keep at 60km/h when going downhill. Overly cautious maybe?
When you go downslope, tendency is to avoid braking if you can.. keep a lookout what's ahead..

The sbst citaros has a final drive ratio that is configured such that the top speed is only about 65km/h with the 4 speed voith gearbox. 4th gear kicks in normally around 40-45km/h on a flat road, and thus the bc will have to step on the acclerator to maintain 60km/h. What you feel as braking should just be the engine brake kicking in due to the high rpm of the engine, not the actual fiction brakes itself.
On the other hand, the kubs hits 6th gear at around 55-60km/h, it'll easily cruise at lower rpm without much effort.
The Citaro is hampered by its regular fixed geometry turbo, and has extreme turbo lag.
Hence the Voith is more suitable for it as it keeps the engine spinning at 1300+RPMs in order to reduce turbo spooling time.
Anything KUB E4 and older have fixed geometry turbo, whilst the KUB E5 and the Wrights have VGT (variable geometry turbo) to increase pressure at low RPMs and provide more boost.

Uh yeah true that, nowadays the increasingly-common train distruptions have made it comparable to pace of bus rides already. ![]()
Originally posted by carbikebus:Problem is the speedo of each bus model is different.MAN 60kmh is not same as Citaro 60kmh leh.And some buses the 60kmh feel like 50-55 only seriously..If u drive Sbst and Smrt buses before then you will know why.Talking is easier than doing.I ever drive 1 MkIV DM on 36 and the 60 seriously is like 50 and worsened if the bus is full load.At least governed all the buses below 70 then it be ok.
The diff actual speeds of the diff models even though the speedo still reads 60kmh, is it due to the calibration of the speedos? I know that the older a vehicle, somehow the speedo will fail to display the correct actual speed of the vehicle.

Actually adjusting the speed limit will not change the speed of BCs that drive slowly.
They just don't change since you are changing the LIMIT not MINIMUM.
Change BC then you will see the results.
Change SPD LIT then you will only see results in chiongsters.
Change SPD MIM then you will be guranteed to see results. [ BCs cannot stop the bus ]
