Wait, which bus goes out of 168?

Yes, this is finally confirmed by yours truly courtesy of a 'SV 53' perm stix spotted at the BC cabin. This is the confirmed fleet add with intro of shortworking 53A/53B.

Likely taking over SBS9458E.

So 9526S has been on 168 for how long already? Not doubting you because I know it just got the new HTC ad, but just wanted to know for reference. ![]()

1896B has been on services like 28, 19 etc in the past few weeks (I can't recall what other services it did), but all the other perm 518 Mk4s & Citaros are all still on 518, I did the check already. Only 1896B is consistenly missing, while 6168L is usually replacing 1896B's timings or alternating.
Follows the cases of other long-time formerly-perm 518 buses such as 794T, 889D, 890Z, 2620Z leaving 518 for another service. Kinda expected, because 1896B is the oldest Mk4 (and also the first Strider) in the fleet and yet they kicked out 2620Z (& 807R) the previous time when 6084U 6117J went in. Further proves my point in another thread that BN is really trying to beef up its SD spare fleet to let its DDs be more better utilised. ![]()

Every week or almost everyday on 168 without fail for at least 2 months.

Lay-up till the end of the lifespan. High chance this bus would not get extended..

Oh...Luckily the bendy is not badly damaged.
SBS 7560E (BN 5
BN 69)
should most likely be confirmed the shift, as i saw it on 69 ytd around 1pm plus heading back to tamp. Guess its either doing split or A/P shift.

Scania Striders (TIB638T & TIB654X) are laid up till the end of lifespan is because the bodyworks are already out-of-production & they do not have any type of replacements for such models. So once it gets involved in an accident, the entire bus will have to lay up & deregister straight, just like some LO3x/VO3x/DAF that were also involved in any types of accidents (I think some of them would know). There's no way SMRT can do anything about it, when out-of-production buses met with a serious accident.

To be honest, I'd have thought 654X would have taken duty 10 ever since the shifting.

For 638T my verdict is still the same give it half a year (from the month of that accident) or nine months, I strongly feel that bus can still be salvaged. I can't comment for 654X as I have not seen the damage yet.

I feel sad when I know that these buses have to go so fast.

Hmm, Unless its the same case as 666L when the bus took months to recover from the damage.

Most likely if the EDS is damaged will the bus need a replacement.
