  After listening to the news or reading articles regarding the opening of NE line , what are your views towards the price and the changes to the 9 services ?

  As for me , I dont think i will want to take mrt . The extra costs of taking mrt has definately put me off and I am one of those who prefers taking buses then mrt no matter how long it takes to get from one place to another . If SBS are going to reduce a lot of routes just because of the mrt , I will probably be pissed off and try to find alternate routes to get to my destination unless i am in a hurry .

  I hope that SBST and PTC would do something sensible with the routes that duplicate the NEL. It would be not feasible if most of the bus routes are amended to serve somewhere else. As you could see, most of the MRT Stations do have some services passing by. This is also to have some bus services to go places that the NEL would never pass by. If SBST and PTC withdraw bus services to Shenton Way, it would not be feasible to do so. This goes to the buses going to Orchard area. These bus services do reach the doorstep of most destinations. Withdrawal of bus services would cause more INCONVENICES than having more CONVENIENCES on taking MRT. Sometimes, you have to walk a few miles to the MRT Station!
  
  In conclusion, NEL is not feasible is some ways. Also, the NEL is also NOT convenience in some ways. I hope that both SBST and PTC would have a better plan towards trransportation along the North East Part of Singapore.

  I'd rather take the MRT from Sengkang to HarbourFront than risk butt pain when I take Sv. 80 or Sv. 85. Sv. 80 will remain but may be amended to Bukit Merah Interchange(via Telok Blangah) but Sv. 85 will DEFINITELY be withdrawn.

  Beside svc 21, 22, 72 & 130, I predicts that the other 5 svc are 24,133, 135 and 2 other unknown svc, but my guess is 25 & 55.
  
  This is my predictions:
  
  svc 21 will via Rangoon Rd, Serangoon Rd, Lavender St, Kallang Rd towards Pasir Ris, skipping Towner Rd, McNair Rd, Boon Keng Rd & Lor 1 Geylang. It will via Kallang Rd, Lavender St, Jln Besar, Kitchener Rd & Serangoon Rd towards St. Michael's.
  
  svc 22 & 24 will turn right into Serangoon Ctrl, Upp Serangoon Rd, then turn right into Upp Paya Lebar Rd towards Paya Lebar.
  
  svc 72 will turn into Hougang Ctrl.
  
  svc 130 will via McNair Rd, Towner Rd, Boon Keng Rd, Upp Boon Keng Rd, Lor 1 Geylang & Kallang Rd towards Shenton Way, skipping Jln Besar & Ophir Rd. It will via Kallang Rd, Lor 1 Geylang, Upp Boon Keng Rd, Boon Keng Rd, Bendemeer Rd, Lavender St towards Ang Mo Kio, skipping Kitchener Rd & Upp Serangoon Rd.
  
  svc 133 & 135 will via Serangoon Ctrl instead of Serangoon Ave 2.
  
  I think that it's a good ideas to divert svc to bring passengers closer to NEL stations, but if the route becomes longer as a result or other passengers suffered inconveniences, then it's better to remain in the current route.

  In my opinion, svc 80 may be amended to terminate at New Bridge Rd terminal.
  
  Whether svc 85 will be withdrawn or not is the final decision of the PTC. I think that once the NEL opens, svc 85 will be like another svc 2 (svc 2 duplicates route with MRT from City Hall to Tanah Merah). Most probably svc 85 will stay on for at least 6 months after NEL opens if PTC decides to withdrawn it.

  What do ur' think about services 97 and 111? They follow the line for quite a substantial distance, so perhaps they may be amended or diverted, but this is only my guess.
  
  I don't think 72 will end at Hougang Ctrl itself, its quite convenient to use 72 to Tampines, and who wants to take the NEL to Tampines from Hougang anyway?!
  
  I think that perhaps some express sevices like 511 and 502 might be withdrawn with the intro of the NEL, as both time factor and cost may deter even more people from using them, and 501 is now quite empty already at times, causing SBST to deploy them at a freq of ~40 minutes, which is about 2X that they listed in their route guide in the same time frame.
  
  An interesting thought: do you think that the load factor of 80 and 85 will decline so much after the NEL opens that they start using all single decks, especially service 85.

  made a few changes to what i said last time
  
  Intergratio of Svc 16 with svc 85. <85> withdrawn
  
  Service 16 will be extended to WTC. it will follow <85> route till around orchard rd before continue on its way to siglap loop.
  
  Integration of services 97 and 107
  
  Service 107 will be withdrawn. <97> will admended to go onto 107's route from shenton way. 97 will still end at hougang central.
  
  Service 82 and 80
  
  Service 82 is not to be changed. there will be no chnages to svc 80 too.
  
  Extension of service 18 to serangoon. withdrawl of service 81
  
  Service 18 will eb extended to serangoon while service 81 is to be withdrawn.
  
  Service 86 87, 88, 89
  
  All remain the same.
  
  Withdrawl of service 111
  
  [color=blue]admendment of service 103 [integration with service 142/color]
  service 103 will end at st michaels instaed. it will be integrated with service 142 to provide links for potong pasir residents.

  No, what I mean is that service 72 will turn into Hougang Central (It will skip a pair of stops along Hougang Ave 4) and then proceed to Tampines or Yio Chu Kang.
  
  I guess that Express 501, 511 & 502 may be withdrawn but not 502. 502 may be integrated with another express service which I think is 518.
  
  Service 80 won't be affected much before the completion of the Circle Line. Service 85, if not withdrawn, is most probably converted to all single deck.
  
  I hope that service 85 will not be withdrawn as it is the only service connecting:
  
  1. Great World City to the NE area.
  2. Great World City to HarbourFront.
  3. Tiong Bahru to NE area.
  
  The most is that this service be amended in the stretch from Sengkang to Orchard. But from Orchard to HarbourFront, better not amend the route.

  The following is my predictions (repeated) to service changes after NEL opens.
  
  97 (Jurong East to Little India stretch) will be integrated with 23 (Tampines to Little India) to become 68 (Tampines to Jurong East)
  
  65 (Tampines to Orchard stretch) will be integrated with 111 (Ghim Moh to Orchard stretch) to become 65 (Tampines to Ghim Moh). As for 65 Orchard to HarbourFront stretch, can take alternative 14 (to Lower Delta Rd) or 85.
  
  103 (Jln Kayu to Upp Serangoon stretch) will be integrated with 107 (Serangoon Int to Shenton Way/Marina Centre) to become 107 (Jln Kayu to Marina Centre only, skipping Shenton Way)
  
  81 will be withdrawn, 53 will be amended to via Upp Serangoon Rd to serve Kovan station, skipping Lor Ah Soo and Hougang Ave 1. Affected passengers can transfer to 62 outside Kovan station.
  
  321 will be withdrawn, 62 will be extended to Hougang Ctrl, via Upp Serangoon Rd, Hougang St 21, Hougang Ave 1 and continue with its present route.

  This prediction is interesting.. Any idea what the amended route of 132 would be like? My guess is that it may skip the entire Hougang Ctrl-Hougang Sth stretch completely.
  
  If 65 is to be amended, then it may be quite troublesome to get from Orchard to Harbourfront by bus, provided if one is prepared to switch lines on the MRT, especially since 14 does not serve it, and 85 has a very high chance of being withdrawn.
  
  I like the amended service 68, especially since the distance is about the same considering 23 is driven as a loop service.
