Well you are right in some ways, but fortunately, my friends have been supportive of me, even after they got to know that I'm crazy about buses. Instead of despising me, they find that I'm actually quite useful to them. Why? Coz I'm their Bus-Guide-On-The-Move! They simply call or sms me asking how to get to a place from another place and I'll reply them within minutes. Seriously, if you don't show them that you are overly obsessed with buses, they will treat like any other person. Show them about your obsession only when the time is right. And wanna know something? Even some of my friends have now started appreciating buses like I do, which amazes me. If they insult you for liking buses, tell them straight in their face that "If you have an obsession for sports cars and scramblers, then tell me a good reason why I can't have the same obsession on buses? What difference does it make anyway?"Originally posted by orange_oceanz:erm..I think is a bit weird lor. Ive travelled much on bus since my school is far away, sometimes u can get to see the beauty of places, but u will know that Singapore afterall.
Well said. Especially the last few sentences. I always asked: "Why people liking cars, trains are not bombarded with questions, but people like me are bombarded with questions, when buses are also like cars?".Originally posted by Superbus:Well you are right in some ways, but fortunately, my friends have been supportive of me, even after they got to know that I'm crazy about buses. I love the B777, nothing wrong! Like you said most people like F-16s or F/A-14s(whatever, I'm ignorant) but we like Boeings, what's the difference? It's just another branch of aviation.Originally posted by Jubilee777:Just take it as a unique hobby yoe have. The majority likes cars and you like buses, the majority likes F16s and I love the B747, what's wrong with that?![]()
I think you lot are weird! It's just a bus! Oh wait....i like busesOriginally posted by Airbus330Captain:What do you think of folks spending their time taking bus rides as part of their hobby ?
I would love to hear your views .
Cheers
All views are welcome but please no bashing .
Hehehe, well, I only know all this stuff as a result of wandering into bus depots here (Australia) and talking to the depot managers and mechanics, and some drivers. But I'm not obsessed.it's only a bus...LAH! (I hope that's the right place to put a "lah"Originally posted by MooKu:Taking buses as a hobby is ok lar... But to the extent of even knowing the models of buses etc etc is simply too... I don't know. But you get what I mean.Nothing negative though.

Yes, FS. I find that even without a concession, bus fares are very very cheap as opposed to Sydney and other parts of Australia. In one day i can spend up to $25 AUD ($30 SGD) on bus fares alone (without a concession). So consider yourselves very lucky that your transport has an integrated fare system, ad that it is subsidised by the government.Originally posted by off_service:Not really. Some of our bus spotters do not have concession. We have a detailed plan before springing into action. As the saying goes, "You plan to fail if you fail to plan".
Only a few out of my groups of friends know that i am into my transport. I keep transport and my "other" life apart.Originally posted by orange_oceanz:erm..I think is a bit weird lor. I find that i often don;t need to plan when i go spotting around singapore. Buses are so frequent! You can just camp in one spot and just take snaps or about 20 min, then move on to another spot.Originally posted by tranquilice:Yes, I also do not have concession, have to pay adult fares. Most of the time when I go out alone or do sightseeing-on-bus, I will always plan what service to take, where to board and alight, what are the connections with other services etc.
Yeah, i go there sometimes as well. there are other parts to the bus spotting fraternity...i know of timetable collectors, number plate collectors, chassis plate collectors, badge collectors, bus restorers, and those who just hoarde old buses with a view toi preserve them, only for it to never happen.....waste of a good bus.Originally posted by EXCO:Wow... I didn't know there are spotters for buses. Most interesting! Hey, you guys surf airliners.net? I go there myself on a daily basis!

and taking buses without planning is fun! And even more fun when u get lost, because that's how u truly explore a foreign city.
