TIBS' selling buses

Saw it at the new TIBS Motors site. But it's too big for 56k users because the entire site is designed with Flash.
DAF SB 220 20x - The ones being used by CSS.
Scania L113CRL 50x - Probably the full range under operations now.
Dennis Lance 245 49x - Quite new buses though. Should be including the PA labelled ones. -

Too bad Lance 211 are not for sale, perhaps they are still too new, considering they are 10XX. BluBlur, I think that you may may not have sufficient exposure to the bad points of the LAnce 211s. Firstly, they can be very slow, especially in the peak hours, and the Air-Con is not even cool, let alone cold, in the afternoon, and although TIBS have them for quite some time, there is still that funny plastic+perfume+air-freshener smell in the bus that tends to make passengers, especially me, sleepy during long bus journeys for unknown biological reasons. It is also very unpleasnat to sit in the back bench, cos the engine vibration is quite significant, and can get quite hot at times( look at what happen to 1004 early tis year ).....the list goes on, and the merits are few, except that they are a bit cleaner because they are newer..... and yes, I've forgotten to mention those fire-resistant PVC-type seat covers that can also be found on the Volgren 0405s, can cause your buttocks to catch fire after sitting on it for an hour in the afternoon heat, and they can be quite hard. -
Icic. I still think they're faster than some of the Volvos in SBST. The design by Duple Metsec was quite bad, it was similar to one of the earlier 0405s for SBST too. Don't really take the 211 and 245s as they are mostly found in the Yishun services. Most of the time it's the good ol' Hispano 0405s, Habits and the Volgren bendies. -

I do believe some companies will buy the bus. Actually I do think that Lance 245 performed better than 211, and Tibs should get rid of Lance 211 first before Lance 245. Do you people think that Tibs is trying to be like SIA, keeping it's fleet young? You see, Scania L113 and Lance 245 are 8 and 5 y/o respectively. I do believe the next fews buses to go are Elbo and Nissan Diesel.
I think Elbo is going off next due to the frequent fire cases, most of them which happened on svc 961. -

I fully agree with you that the 211s should go before the 245s, though they are rather new. I agree that TIBS is trying to be like SQ, as they thought that it will work for bus companies like airlines, and I personally would take the newer buses instead of the older ones, especially in times of heavy competition ( unless the new ones are Dennis LAnces ! ) MAybe TIBS is trying to take a dig at SBST for trying to keep their antiques as long as possible, even it means running head-on with the authorities. It is unlikely that LTA would prolong the life of buses from the current 15 years, as Malaysia, notably KL, had earlier announced that it would keep its fleet young below 6-7 years if possible.
Although I like the design of the ELBO, I agree that they have to go, considering their fires, and the fact that they vibrate a lot at junctions, apparently those people at ELBO didn't consider the unique wave physics of the Scania engines, and maybe that's why they had folded. Its a bit better now that TIBS had replaced the seat coverings on those Arianne seats with those common Fabric seat covers. However, its a pity that they had to go, considering their age. -
Yes, they are much faster than the snail of a VO 2-AX, especially in the Lornie sector, and those people in 74, 93 or 165 look so pitiful when the worst bus in TIBS can outrun the impressive DD.Originally posted by BluBlur:Icic. I think that the design is really can't be helped, considering the low floor design, and the converted Scanias have the same problem, and in order to accomodate taller people, especially due to that step at the rear, the roof have to be quite high. Too large an AC vent and it would spoil the appearance of the interior, and if the AC is uprated, those people sitting at the rear are going to encounter Artic while it is damn hot at the front, any creative solutions to this chicken-egg problem since the trend is going to move towards Low-floor buses?
Yes, u will rarely see lances in other areas, 'cept services from the north like 851, 852, 853, 854 and 855 as they are all based in Ang Mo kio depot. Strange, 169 has a lower % of lances than 852 since it is much nearer to the depot. -
I've been told that Lance 211 were sighted in Kranji Depot. Regarding ur question on AC unit, place 2 smaller ac units, one in the front and one at the rear? I think this would not be cost efficient. -
I noticed a trend of SBST and TIBS that is similar. Whenever a type of bus is going off, you can see the bus operating on more services.
Quoting examples, Lance 245 on 61, 67, 965 and 969, Scania L113 appearing on svc 962 and 963 and for SBST, Scania N113 on many trunk services in Bedok and Tampines. -

The 4xx are indeed up to expectations. The earliest 425R's interior is in good condition, still able to perform well. -
YUp, those EDS are useless anyway, except displaying courtesy reminders and the services using the berth, and can be quite hard to see witha ll the ventialtion ducts and huge pillars.Originally posted by BluBlur:Yeah. The single decks are good, especially they had fixed the ubiquitous leaking ac problem quite well. However, I would appreciate if they service the articulators on the 8XX series Bendys.. they look like they are ready to fall apart when going at high speeds around bends -
what about DAF? They suck. don't tell me tibs will transfer DAF to woodlands depot after selling off Scanias...

Yes, I do agree. When I took SBS 7297Z on Sv. 93 even a DAF could overtake the VO. I had really wanted to get off and take the DAF to Macritchie to get home. Sv. 169 is partially controlled by Woodlands Depot, don't forget, so there is lower concentration of Lances(not that I like them but I haven't taken the Lance 211 yet!) -

I don't mind Alexander O405s, they are good buses IMO however the bodywork could be better. I don't go all out to purposely avoid them.

i guess no one can appreciate the best of ehat eurpore has to offer. DAF buses rock. scania buses the best. Dennis the best in speed. just love the burst when they kick in to 2nd gear and the dennis lance 245 can out run any taxi or lorry at the traffic junction compared to the shitty buses of SBSt

Yes, Dennis Lance 245s can REALLY RUN, the Scanias are beautiful buses and the DAFs can overtake VOs along Lornie Rd.
