SBST 9 in the 1980s

  Anyone here knows the route of SBST 9 in the 1980s? I remembered it passed by the Somapah terminal, using present Upp Changi Rd East.

  Bus 9 started from geylang lorong 1 terminal before shortened to bedok . Am i right ?

  Yes, but later shortened to Bedok because it duplicates with MRT and service 2.

  Others I know about in the 1980s:
  
  1. Service 76 used to ply Jurong East.
  
  2. Service 81 used to terminate near the junction of Upp Changi Rd North/Tanah Merah Besar Rd/Old Tampines Rd.
  
  3. Service 155 used to terminate at Somapah terminal.

  Yes. And I wondered why SBST shortened it to Kent Ridge. Service 188 route from Clementi Rd to HarbourFront is a "waste of resource".

  now now i have to speak up for my svc 188
  
  i am ic of svc 188 (as it goes to NUS). now svc 188 has bendy buses and is always damn crowded. the bus provides vital links between bt batok / choa chu kang for NUS students. also the bus provides links from chevrons to wtc and from IMMM to many parts of the west

  My observation is that during off-peak hours, the load between NUS and HarbourFront is very low, and even worse is that bendy are deployed during this periods.

  Did Upper Changi Rd extend to Changi Village in the 1980s? Were Upper Changi Rd East and North named Upper Changi Rd before?

  actually my observation for 963 is also like that. same goes for svc 93.
  
  well i guess 188 is those "you need it then take" bus service. But in that case 188 must be very fast travelling during off peak (good for fast ride from cck to clementi?)

  Yes, service 188 may be fast travelling from CCK to AYE during off-peak, but if not for the twists and turns in Bt Batok, it can be even faster.
  
  Services 188 & 963 (plus services 10, 74 etc), in my own words, is a "one-directional peak-hours service".
