If you were to survey the entire Singaporeans, I am sure they would want both double deckers and bendy~ Each got their pros/cons. Some would say Double deckers not suitable for those routes with more elderly(and youngsters whom don't wish to go up), while the rest would say bendy have length problem.
You shorten the length doesn't really mean it would really make a difference~ Plus, if the government want a first class world transport, they should more or less stop at 5Million people~ No point taking in more when you're just a small tiny dot w/o any further reclaim land work.
But seriously, the commuters never even so free to questioned about SMRT reason of buying bendy, not even the reason for not upgrading to Double Deck, so what's the point then~? Jams is common to Singaporeans already, just live with it~~ Govt. like what they are doing, we also can't voice out w/o more opposition~
Anyway, Singapore actually have a lot of space~ If the govt. don't increase the no. of population, there would be not much new HDBs/Condos built~
Woah...
Not saying DDs is bad, but bendies are good to have around also, only depends on how you utilise it.
For Singapore, it would be better for the composition to be of minority for bendies. Singapore has not much space left; people are willing to pay more COE to roam around. And having more bendies to clog up the roads of Singapore is definitely not helping. CBD alr have not enough space for those bendies, other places like London or Israel have either bigger roads or less populated areas. Singapore wants to add one million more people somemore.
But in the little avenues of neighbourhoods where less cars can be found, they are fortunately built to fit the bendies. Thus, bendies are well used here as the features of bendies far surpasses the DDs in terms of intratown services, such as third door etc.
Since there are less feeders and intratowns than trunks, it is better to acquire more DDs to supplement the trunks in need. Meanwhile, it would be best for bendies to stay in the neighbourhoods.

Bendies will stay till 2019 for sure. As bendies get de-registered, they should be moved from svc 106, 190 to feeder / intra town services while trunks should get DDs.

I agree with you. Short route or feeder/intra town services should use bendies while trunks should get DDs.
Lets see at the end of the month, or maybe next year, whether SMRT choose bendies or DDs. If only SMRT considers both bendies and DDs... IF ONLY.

Other way if possible is SBS Transit handle the City svc(trunk), SMRT handle all those feeder/intra-town/townlink svc/Express svc..

Last batch of habits de-registering in 2021(without extension)...
Why not we aquire 100 bendies for feeders/intratowns/short dist. routes/routes with height or turning restrictions?
And 220 DDs for trunk/long distance/CBD svcs/ svcs without height or turning restrictions?
The best of both worlds, everyone happy

911 actually can~ So does svc950~ If govt. willing to spend $$ go widen road for 911, it's possible~ Especially the st82 side.
Like I've said, if they want to be different, they already are~ Their PIS did help a lot in my journey, unlike SBS Transit one(Stated this to suit their[SMRT] wish)~
They can have 3 different types of buses in the whole fleet(I know it's somewhat impossible), perhaps DD to AM/KJ, bendy to WL only~

excuse me, 903 is DD friendly, and its long enough like 334 for DDs if SMRT ever buys DDs. bendies always fully packed with standees even though all alight at marsiling rise there.... 964 is fully DD friendly as well, Woodlands Loop is not a narrow road at all. 911 plying through extremely narrow roads and doing tight turns i can understand but 912 and 913's routes are DD friendly... and 61 had a majority VO3x fleet before, so it is not DD friendly?? 963 can use DDs ever since that KTM bridge has been removed...
in summary, please RIDE these few services to determine if they are DD friendly. tight turn doesn't mean its automatically anti-DD. rode 179 and 28 before? or 139?

Do you know what's driving and restriction or not?GL1 DDs can roam freely as any 12 m buses. The 961/985 exit also I saw 3 axles DDs turning out from there and some several stadium direct DDs also park there before.

since the days when Tibs took over the CCK & BBT svcs ...
106 that used to have DDs had bendies in place
74 had DDs (along Durearn)
66 got DD cameos?
901 no need DD ...
903 : Marsiling Lane, Marsiling Drive and Marsiling Road
912 : Woodlands St 41 (not 903)
imo
for 902 bendies are better
and they should allow boarding on all three doors since there are additional SMRT staffs ...

Mind you also~ Do you think the bus lanes would last on the entire road? Plus, some car drivers do take up bus lane too. So do you think it's really unavoidable? Don't say road jam, expressway jam, how? Don't tell me you expect every driver use the road shoulder to avoid waiting for jams?
If 1 person owns multiples houses(either using their wife/grandparents name etc.), why, in the first place, the government allow this to happen? Yes I agree there's more $$, but the after effect is really causing a problem to some people. Are $$ so important than people?
