SBS7888K actually perms 133 first. It then permed 25 to replace SBS9646D.

I have the same feeling as you. I also wanted SBS Transit to order some more K310UDs.
Too bad SBS Transit ordered even more Wrights, but I got no problem with it anyway as there was once I said I want SBS Transit to buy 650 more Wrights and they did it (almost the same amount).

K310UDs are no longer in production. Its cousin, K280UD is still in production. However, 280hp is extremely underpowered for a double decker bus.

I just want to tell you that SBS7888K did not replace SBS9888Y at all.
SBS9888Y is perm AMDEP 133 before indeed, after that it permed AMDEP 25 since January 2008 till the day it was burnt down.
I have observed that the load on 147 has dropped in the last 2 months. I first thought that it is just an anomaly, but after observing more trips, I think the load has actually dropped.
It is not the same peak hour load, where you would see a Wright packed with people. Has anyone else had the same observation?
I witnessed a completely packed 43 from Buangkok Green to Sengkang East Way. I was on the upper deck - 60% full and then at Buangkok Station 80% full. This was at 7pm on Monday.
Very unusual to see this on 43 DD in that sector when the route is going to end in another 4 stops.

43 is very popular for the nothern sector... For the southern sector, I'm not sure.
At least I can continue observing the nothern sector since I moved back to my home at Hougang (YAY!). 43 stacking is now very common... Especially at around 7:25am, SBS5156C and a wright gets stacked. SBS973T normally can be seen either way infront of them or sandwiched between them (lol). You can take a few trips from Buangkok MRT to NEX and the way back. And believe me, I really seriously doubt that they will introduce 43B soon. Probably for the southern sector, Marine Parade > Paya Lebar MRT.

43 is popular in the southern leg also - especially between Marine Parade and Paya Laber, and then again between Serangoon and Buangkok Green. These two sectors are cash cow for SBST. That's why the # of DDs and buses has increased on 43.

I think with 43 coping with the load, service 135 should extend to places like Singapore Expo or Simei till Changi Village or Bedok Depot via ECP from Siglap Link. ![]()

135 should just follow 36 route from Marine Parade to Changi. And 36 fleet should be split into 36 and 36M. 36M should ply from East Coast Terminal to Tomlinson and 36 on its original route. 36M can be full fleet DD then![]()
It is quite a waste to see that most of the CGA services have very high loading [ Except for 34? ] and are restricted to using rigid single deckers.

LTA should really build a double decker friendly bus interchange for Changi airport if they are serious about improving public bus transport.

There is a need for 36M as there is a 36B[peak] from Marine Parade Rd to Tomlinson Rd, stop at Siglap Rd[Mandarin Gardens]
There is also 36A which sometimes run during the day[very rare though]
From East Coast Rd there is sv14 and 14A, too much duplication in any need for 36M in the 1st place

As said there is very heavy duplication of sv43 with sv76 from Yio Chu Kang Rd to Marine Parade.
43 DDs can be better utlised on other HG services.
Observation on Thursday evening around 0640 Tanjong Katong Td/Mountbatten Rd junction twds Paya Lebar
1 sv76 DD, 1 sv43 DD, followed by sv76 DD, all 2 buses came together and all are only a quarter full
Friday evening 0720hours same location
1 sv76 DD, 1 sv43 DD, 1 sv76 DD, 1 sv76 DD in a span of 2 minutes...
less than a quarter dull...
wastage of precious resources

Yes it is unfortunate to see buses bunch this way. I would though agree with LTA/SBS that 43 does need DDs.
If you see there is bi-directional load between Marine Parade and Paya Laber that most often exceeds 70-80 pax unless there is a 76 or 135 right in front. At Parkway Parade, itself I have witnessed 50-60 pax entering the bus.
Again, there is bi-directional load between Buangkok Green and Serangoon (NEX). At NEX if you stand in the morning hours, you will easily see 50+ pax entering the bus, and in the evening, it can go upto 70+ pax.
The sector from East Coast to Marine Parade & Paya Laber to NEX are areas where the bus has less than 50 pax.
76 on the other hand has high loading between AMK Ave 4 and YCK Road. I think 76 should be diverted to Serangoon (NEX) as well to ease off the load on 43, 70 at NEX and to provide better connectivity between Serangoon Station and AMK Ave 3 (currently there is no bus connecting these two).
Also 76 need not go all the way to Marine Terrace but can loop at Aljunied or Paya Laber or UBI.
88A and 88B starts today! Anyone spotted what bus operating? The timing of 88A is wa-off my school schedule ![]()

43A should use DDs while the return trip should be named 43B to maximise the use of DDs for this route...
Other sections of 43 can be better served by sv76
