Prefer Hougang. People from Serangoon / Kovan take NEL to Hougang for 117. Similarly, those from Sengkang / Punggol can come to hougang. HG is a center point for NE suburbs.
89 got additional DD replacement. Now, 16 - DDs, 4 - SDs. Good for all those asking for more DDs on 89.

Problem is, Hougang is alr overcrowding with buses.

They will expand Hougang Int soon...

Yes, and the solution is to remove some non-profitable routes from there. For example: 113.
Kovan should have a mini interchange like Serangoon. Will do well.
Who said Svc 43 doesn't need DDs?
This was last Thursday at 2345hrs with a Svc 70M bus 2.5mins ahead. MANY passengers stranded at nex. This would NEVER had happened if a DD was deployed (although the next svc 43 bus was a DD)

Restore back Hougang South Bus Interchange..

Still awaiting for SBST to introduce this route.

Probably when DTL opens. If this bus takes Expressway ALL THE WAY, this bus will be the SBS Transit version of 190

You don't need to show me this photo. I am a frequent commuter of 43 at times and I always meet this situation. Believe me boy, even a DD does not help. Coz NOBODY wanted to go up. The BC have to shout his lungs out to get everyone to move to the upper deck. Keep in mind that all the pax clear at before AMK Ave 3 and also at Buangkok Green. Nobody would want to climb up and down and struggle to get off the bus.
Same for Paya Lebar - Parkway Parade side also. Few stops. No one wanted to go up. A DD drove away with upper deck half-filled, and pax stranded on the stops.
Best is to increase frequency. Liddat is best for services like 43 alr. Despite all those DDs added in 43, you can still sadly see what happened in this picture. As I had so constantly repeated: Rather a 7-min SD than an 18-min DD.

You said people wont climb up. Then why DDs in the night at service 76 from siglap - yck after 9pm upper deck is fullhouse and 1st level is 60% filled?

Short-distance...
how can you confirm the ppl on the upper deck not travelling long-haul?

Siglap - YCK whole journey called short? LOL.
Whole journey is 43km include loop.
But I know there are longer one like 24,53, 502, 518 and NR7
NR7 is 76.3km.

No... I mean the 43 heavy load only travel short-distance lol
But 76 ah... DD upper-deck is ppl maybe travelling long-haul... Perhaps Siglap to YCK X.X
And FYI, reason I think 43 is not DD worthy is because the load is only in two short separate sectors: Parkway Parade and Paya Lebar MRT; as well as Nex to Buangkok. Who will want to go up?
Aiyo sometimes its at the wrong time and at wrong location. In a apple tree you can't hope that all apples is juicy n ripe right?I ever saw a pack 80 SD then the next 5 mins a DD with less than 15 pax on board
x
Blame those young brats la,Evertime I see 222 upper deck always majority elderly or those working adults,Lower deck mostly students/Teenagers.

I refuse to agree with you.
Who said people don't go to upper deck? Is Buangkok Green to NEX a short route? Has some 10 bus stops in between.
43 has got 8 DDs now from just 2 in the beginning of the year. There is a reason for it. At NEX, the loading is so high, that SD can never manage the loading. When a DD comes, you see all people at the bus stop take the bus.
Same goes at Paya Laber. That's why the # of DDs on 43, 70 and 76 have increased because of the spot loading. Ofcourse because of CCL, you will not see more than 40 pax on the bus between Serangoon and Paya Laber as CCL is faster.
To add, I think 8 DDs on 43 is just fine. Don't need more DDs now.
7 DDs do whole route, while 3105M does 43A morning peak and NEX -- PGL in evening peak.
Sometimes the timing of 3105M is not good at NEX, as it might just follow another 43 doing the full route, and at that time the BC leaves the stop with just 10-15 pax because there is another 43 just ahead. The bus never takes more than 15 pax in its whole route because of a bus ahead.
At such times, the BC should wait for 2 mins at NEX, and will see the bus getting at least 50-60 pax within 2-3 minutes.

Scheduling is a problem many times. I have observed multiple times a SD going before a DD. The SD is packed like sardines and the DD to follow just has 20-25 pax on board. At least the SD should let the DD go ahead so that passengers dont cram into the SD but get a comfortable journey in the DD.
Sometimes during weekends PM peak the loading at NEX is so high that even DD cannot handle.
And always the next bus that comes people also cannot board.
I had travelled on 43 from Parkway Parade to Sengkang before, at night about 2000hrs, sometime last month.
The upper deck is always 80% - 90% filled from Parkway Parade to Buangkok MRT. Those who says 43 has low demands or upper deck is empty must be talking based on what they feel, and not what they observed.
